PEOPLE OF THE LORD

"The people of the Lord will live where they are sent.(Micah 2:5)

In this passage of scripture, Micah is giving an unpopular report to the people. Because of their sin and rebelliousness they were in big trouble. A people who had gone where they wanted and by the power of God, taken what they wanted(because God had given it to them)were now going to be reduced to living wherever their captors sent them.

The first thing that struck me as I read this verse was the phrase, the people of the Lord. This is my greatest desire, to be all that God wants me to be and has called and prepared me to be. Then, as I reread the verse I noticed that these rebellious people who were about to be severely punished, were the ones being called people of the Lord. Oh how merciful God is. He will not give up on us ever, and He will not let us go without a fight. Let this encourage you, that as long as you still want to get back to God, you can!

The people of course, did not want to hear what Micah was saying. Many times we may not like what God is saying, but it will not change what God says. Everything that He was warning the people about, could be changed in a moment by their sincere repentance, and turning again to God.

Do you long for God, do you want more than anything to be His. Then tell Him. If you have backed away, or strayed in any way, just come back. For many Christians, their greatest sin is neglecting their relationship with God. Because of this, instead of living in victory, they are living where ever the enemy tells them. If he says “you are sick,” they say, “I am sick.” If he says, “you are poor,” they say, “I am poor.” You understand what I am saying, they are living where ever they are told to go. But God says, “Let the weak say I am strong, let the poor say I am rich because of what the Lord has done.” When you walk through the water you will not drown, or through the fire you will not be burned, for the Lord is with you.

I really think the choice is ours as to where we live. We need to choose with the Lord at all times and in all things. Then we will be where He sends us, and when tribulation comes we will have the good cheer He commanded because we will remember that He has overcome the world. Then we will be people who are ready to be sent by God. Praise the Lord.
