PERFECTING REFLECTING

Now we see things imperfectly as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. (1 Corinthians 13:12 NLT)

We have been made perfect in Christ Jesus. I don’t know about you, but I do not always see perfect in me nor do I see perfectly when it comes to others. The truth is that when we begin to look at others, it is a very good time to stop and look at ourselves. How is our reflection?

As I continued to think about the perfection of our reflection I came to the understanding that Jesus is working on it! We cannot work our way up. He said to follow Him. Scripture tells us to desire to live Godly. Our transformation is moving at the speed of our desire. The things we desire are the things we follow.

We need to see this! Yes, Jesus said to come to Him and He would give us rest. He will make a way for us to rest in His leading if that is our desire. He will not make us reflect or make us even look in the mirror.

Holy Spirit is continually leading us to all truth. Our desire or lack thereof to walk in it is moving us forward or holding us back. Jesus once asked a blind man what he wanted Him to for him. It seemed like a silly question but Jesus wanted to know what the man desired.

What do we desire? Do we desire to be led into all truth? Do we desire to reflect the image of our Lord? God can work with a little desire just like He can work with a little faith.

Do we believe that He can complete the good work He has begun in us? Will we simply follow? Jesus did not ask them to make the plans for the future, only to plan to walk with Him in the future!

If someone tells me I have food on my face, I want to remove it. If I missed a spot shaving, I want to fix it. If I see a strip in the grass after I mow it, I want to fix it. When I detail the motorcycle after a ride and I see a spot I missed, I want to polish it. Of course in any of these instances, I might not see it and consequently leave it. If someone points it out I have a choice to fix it or leave it.

We may, from time to time, miss the obvious in our walk with God. We may ignore the Holy Spirit and refuse to listen to someone else who tries to help. Depending on what our desire is, we will fix or flee from it.

We are all made perfect and we are all being perfected. God is able but we must be willing. Desire to live and walk in the light of His calling and He will bring it to pass. Enjoy the journey!
