"And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them." (John 17:26 NKJ)
It is hard to imagine that God loves us as much as He loves Jesus. Once we entertain the thought, it is yet another thing to actually declare it. For years, every time I came to the place where John called himself the one that Jesus loved, I really did not know what to think about it. It seemed that he was sure that Jesus had a special love for him. Well now I have come to the conclusion that I am a man that Jesus loves! In fact, if we consider that God gave Jesus to die for us, how could we come to any other conclusion? We better believe we are valuable to God and that He loves us way more than we can grasp.
Now, consider this; that same kind of love is right there inside of each of us just waiting to be released into a world that needs it so badly. The thing that God pointed out to me concerning our relationship is that Jesus does not come to us in pieces. We don’t get a little here and a little there. He does not dip His toe in us to check us out, and then ease on in gradually. He said that when we call He comes. In the same way that we walk into our homes, so Jesus walks into His house via the Holy Spirit. We are His house.
Now there is no doubt that we manifest Him in pieces, but that is because we only manifest what know. We need not ask for more of Him, because we have all of Him. What we need is a greater understanding of how His Kingdom works. We need to know Him more. The more we understand and know Him, the more we know that we have been made complete in Him. We know that we cannot, nor should we desire to do anything without Him. When we understand that He makes everything perfect, why would we want to mess things up by going off without Him?
Here is another point of comfort and strength for us to remember. Not only does Jesus not come in pieces, He does not go to pieces either. Jesus does not fall apart. He does not malfunction. He does not run away at the first sign of failure on our part or an attack from the enemy. He comes. He stays. He fights. And He wins!
Since He does not fall to pieces, we do not have any business falling to pieces either. Scripture tells us not to be surprised when an attack comes. When trouble comes, just laugh at the devil. Give the trouble some trouble. Let the trouble know that the King of Kings is in residence!
Let the devil know that you know the One in whom you believe and that One you know loves you and that He is more powerful than any weapon that could be formed against you. You don’t have a little piece of Jesus, you have the whole thing. Christ in you, that is your hope. And a glorious hope it is!
