PLAN
I am the way the truth and the life. (John 14:16 NKJ)
Well, we have come from knowing our position to realizing that everything we do and say preaches something to someone. Now what do we do with it? What is the plan? We have to have a plan don’t we? Well this may sound pretty simplistic, but my major plan is to do the will of God. I figure if I get that right I will do okay.
Honestly I have found that the thing that trips up a lot of people is thinking that they have to come up with a plan for their life in Christ. But the truth is, it is His life that we now live. He said don’t worry about tomorrow and that we should just be seeking His Kingdom and His righteousness, so we should do that. Anything else that he wants, He will let us know as we seek Him.
I try to encourage people to just rest in the Lord and let Him guide them. After all, if He has a plan, then it is His responsibility to get it to us. In the meantime, there is plenty off stuff right in His Word to keep us going and growing. And as we are seeking Him and following His word He will be speaking right along. You don’t need to feel like a failure if someone asks you what you think the Lord wants you to do or where the Lord is leading you and you have to say that you honestly do not have some big master plan. Just say you plan on doing what the Lord tells you, and until you hear from Him, you will just try to be faithful to do His will.
The truth is that everyone has gifts that God has given them and as we become more like Christ, we naturally use those gifts the way God intended. Some folks told me that I was called to preach before I knew I was called to preach. I had a plan that did not include preaching. My plan was to sing and write songs. Well, my plan was not all wrong, but when I tried to get my plan going it really went nowhere. Strangely enough though, I found myself enjoying speaking to people about how great God is. At the same time I was writing songs and singing unto the Lord. Now if I had tried to force my plan and fought God’s plan, life would have been pretty hard, but when I let Him handle it everything just sort of feel into place. Since that time I have just tried to keep following His direction. No doubt I miss it from time to time, but that is not my plan, and He is certainly able to straighten out what I miss.
Sometimes when I have ideas, if they are God ideas they always fall together. Sometimes He plants thoughts in my mind and then we wait for them to grow up. Other times the idea is just mine and not God’s so we just forget it. The point I am trying to make here is that God said, “this is the way walk in it.” So we can relax and live our lives trusting Him to guide us as long as our greatest desire and plan is to obey Him. While Jesus was on the earth, He sought God and did what the father showed Him to do and said what the Father told Him to say. That is a good way to walk. So wherever you are and what ever you may be doing, make it your plan to do whatever God wants. If you tell Him that is your desire, then you can just trust Him to let you know His plan.
