PLANTING

For by your words you will be justified and by your words you will be condemned.(Matt. 12:37)

Everyone understands the importance of planting. For everything from a single plant, to a garden, to a farm, to finances, we know that what we plant is very important. We also know that caring for the seed after we plant it is important, and we know there is usually at least a little thought put into whatever we plant. Obviously, the level of importance of the planting affects the amount of thought that is put into it. And of course each person’s perspective determines the importance of the planting to that person.

With that said, have you ever considered how many words we plant with little or no thinking? This scripture tells us that by our words we will be justified or condemned. If we consider that Jesus said that even the things we think in our hearts will be factored in, we can add a whole list of things that we plant without really considering them. Included in this list could be our actions and even the attitude that followed the thought. When I consider this, it makes me think I need to find a cave somewhere so I can die with assurance that I am okay!

The good news is that none of us need to find a cave. I am really glad, because I am not really a big fan of caves. We need only to abide in Christ and allow His Word to abide in us. The more we allow His truth to abide in us richly, the more His truth will be what is planted in and through our lives.

Jesus gave us one very important key for abundant life. He told us that the Holy Spirit would lead us into all truth. It is no wonder that He said we could be forgiven for anything we said against God or even against the Son of God, but if we spoke against or in opposition to the Holy Spirit we would not be forgiven. The Holy Spirit is giving us the truth and it is the truth that makes us free!

Is it any wonder that the enemy makes war against the revelation of the Holy Spirit? Is it any wonder that there is so much confusion as to the role the Holy Spirit is to play in our lives? Well the good news is that today is a day when we can change all of that for ourselves and for those who will be benefited by our decision. The Holy Spirit is the power of the Word of God because the Word is Spirit and it is truth. If we remove the Spirit, we just have words without power.

This is a day when we can acknowledge that we have words, actions, and attitudes, out there that should never have gone out and by submitting them to God they can be erased. It may require action on our part to fix the consequences, but getting them erased and better seed planted will certainly get things moving in the right direction.

No, we do not need to look for a cave, we simply need to listen for that still small voice and do all that we can to increase the volume of what God is speaking and then plant His will, His way, and His Word.
