POCKETS OF PEACE
You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you. (Isaiah 26:3)
How about some perfect peace? God promises He will keep us in perfect peace. All we need to do is trust Him and keep our eyes and thoughts fixed on Him. No doubt we need to fix our focus from time to time. We also need to correct our thoughts and attitudes, but all in all, God can work through the desire of our hearts.
So, once again this devotion is prompted by a dream. I will call it a good dream! Just like our world, there was chaos all around. Let’s face it, the world is a messy place. It has been a mess since the garden, when sin came on the scene.
Still, God has provided peace in and from the storms of life for those who will trust him! I have been declaring that I have lived in paradise for a long time. The state of our nation and the world confirms this over and over.
So, in this dream, there was a sense of all the crazy that goes on. The thing that stood out was a scene with four different types of bears sprawled out facing each other. Around them, people were milling about as comfortably as could be. When I woke up, I thought of the scripture where the lion will lay down with the lamb and no more crying, sickness, or pain.
Then I was impressed with the fact that we all possess in Christ what is required to be pockets of peace.
Wherever we are and whatever we are doing, we contain the peace that God promises to all. We live with the opportunity to display the peace of God that passes understanding. Sadly, I think we are all guilty of forgetting what we have in Christ.
Right now, in our country we are seeing displays all over of how people can neglect to see just how fortunate we are to live here. It is very important that we do not get caught up in the unrest.
Jesus is the answer, and He is where we must abide. We can pour fuel on a conversation, or we can elevate it to the Lord!
Jesus showed us how to turn disruption to peace. Even though everything he did and said divided people, His peace prevailed. His words from the cross were beautiful amid the ugliest of times. Truly He is the prince of peace. He is wonderful. His attitude and words counsel us. We have the everlasting God living us. He is mighty to save.
The power of God is moving in this world, and we are carriers of it if we love Him. We have a higher calling than to get caught up in animosity and anger. Lord help us all to be representatives of your peace and power. Give us the words, and fullness of your presence that brings calm in the storms of life that surround us.
