POSITION
For He raised us from the dead along with Christ, and we are seated with Him in the heavenly realms--all because we are one with Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:6)
I know that it is hard for us to imagine that God really wants to give us the desires if our hearts. Even though we see it in His word, we live under so much condemnation that we can think of a hundred reasons why we do not deserve anything for every one reason why God might want to do something for us now in this life time. As I sought the Lord concerning this, the word position came to my mind.
First, we need to realize that Christ is the reason that God wants to bless us. He alone over rides all the reasons we can come up with as to why God should have nothing to do with us. God raised us up along with Jesus and by our position with Him we are justified. He is our advocate. Even when we are thinking God should have nothing to do with us, Jesus is saying Father I love them and I want them.
Our desire for a relationship with God put us in that position and nothing can remove us from that. That is why we must not let anything take our desire. We must never give up on the ability of God to accomplish much in our lives and in the lives of others.
The other thing about position, is putting ourselves in a position to receive from God. Jesus said all things are possible to those who believe. And so believing could be likened to an outfielder positioning himself to catch a ball. He sees it, moves into position and catches it.
Through Christ we have been guaranteed the favor of God. We have been made joint heirs with Jesus. We need only to present ourselves to God to attain the prize. And so we position ourselves before God with confidence in what Christ has done and not confidence in our own flesh.
Realizing that it is not on our own merit but rather because Jesus made the way, we then can go boldly into God’s presence. We can pray and have fellowship with God without fear, because He told us to fear not.
When we gather together in fellowship we also place ourselves in position, because we know that He said where two or more gather in His name He joins them. When we desire fellowship with Him and with one another we put ourselves in that receiving position. That is why God says not to forsake fellowshipping together, and the devil does his best to keep us out of fellowship.
Jesus has secured us a place; we need only to have confidence to fill the position. Desire and believe and you will receive. Just keep knocking, seeking, and asking.
