POWER
Now you have every grace and blessing; every spiritual gift and power for doing His will are yours during this time of waiting for the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1Cor. 1:7 TLB)
Here, we have yet another “P” word that is so essential to our Christian life. Unfortunately there are not very many who readily associate the word power with their own walk with God. Yes, we all believe that God is powerful and that He can do anything He wants to, though most of the time we have a hard time believing that He wants to do anything for us. This in itself is strange when we consider that He watched His son die for us. The Bible says that if He did that much for us even before we knew Him, He certainly would not withhold anything from us now that we love Him. (My paraphrase!)
So even though we know that He is powerful, we still do not see ourselves as powerful, even though Christ Himself said that we would do greater things that He did. All power comes from God, and He assures us in His word that He has given us power and that there is power in the Name of Jesus. Recently God spoke to someone in our church and basically said that we should be walking in the power that He declares that we have. As scripture says, if anyone says they are in Christ they should walk like Him. Now that is power!
This scripture assures us that we have every grace and every blessing of God at our disposal. In other words the table is prepared before us in the presence of the enemy. We have every spiritual gift and the power to activate it as we do His will while we wait for Him to come again. That means we have no excuse for our failure to act like Christ. The truth is, when we quit making excuses and just start doing what God has enabled us to do; everything works out better.
When we think about it, the gospel, which is the power of God unto salvation, is what lines up all of the P words that we have looked at. From position to prayer, they are all the blessings and gifts of God. They are all power gifts, that when activated, promote our walk with Christ and provide the increase in our lives. They are all linked together.
There is no reason for us to sit and feel powerless and useless and defenseless against the attacks of the enemy. There is no reason for us to just throw up our hands and say well what will be will be. God has given us all the gifts and power we need so that we might speak to the mountains and see them removed.
Don’t believe it when the enemy tells you that God has shorted you and left you out of part of His promise. That just is not true. This scripture does not say some of you have everything you need. It says you have everything you need. You, in this case means all who read the Word and receive it as the truth and desire to walk in it. I believe that means you!
