POWER FOR LIFE
That you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power...(Ephesians 1:18b-19 NKJV)
It is time that all Christians everywhere began to operate in the power of God. Without His power, we are powerless! If we deny the power we deny God. If we reject the power we reject God, because God is powerful. He empowers us to live the life that is in Christ Jesus. Think about these things.
There is a purpose in every word of the Word of God. Consider why Paul was led to pray such things for all who believe. Why does God want us all to know the richness of our inheritance? Why does God want us understand the exceeding greatness His power toward us? As you know, Paul went on to describe this power as the same power that God exercised when He raised Christ from the dead. Now that is some power.
God knew that it would take power for us to live the life He desires for us to live. It took power for Jesus to live for God and it takes that same power for us to live for God. Without that power we have only our own strength and our strength is just not sufficient.
It takes power to love. In fact love is powerful. God is love and God is powerful, so love must be powerful. We know that love is powerful enough to cover a multitude of sins. We all know that we could never love our enemies in our own strength. The Lord has enabled us by the power of the Holy Spirit to do just that.
Just think of all the things that you say you cannot do. How many times have you heard or said that all things are possible with God. It is one thing to say it, it is another thing to believe it and experience it. It takes strength and power to stand on the truth when storms mount against us. He gives us the power to hand things over to Him. In turn, He charges us with more power and we continue to win.
We could use Moses as an example as he stood over the battle with his arms raised. As long as his arms were up they were winning. When he ran out of strength the battle would begin to turn against Joshua and Israel. Finally with two men helping him to hold up his arms, Israel prevailed. The Holy Spirit is the power of God holding our arms up.
There is no such thing as a powerless Christian. There are however, many who have no idea what power they have, others who deny it and still others who just do not bother to use the power. The purpose of the power is to enable us to go and reveal to others the greatness of His power and the richness of our inheritance in Christ. We are given this power to empower others. We have this life, so that we can give life and enjoy God. The most important thing we can ever do is enlarge the Kingdom of God by the power of God. We are empowered to love, rejoice, have peace and all the fruit of the Spirit. So we need to be busy believing, receiving, and reproducing.
