PRAY FOR HUNGER

And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was Hungry.(Matt.4:2NKJ)

If there is one thing that the world needs, it is a hunger for the presence of God. But, before the world is going to be exposed to His presence, His body, the church, is going to have to get hungry for His presence. When we get hungry enough for His presence, then we will experience His love for the world. We will feel the way that He feels about the lost, and we will begin to make them a constant focus in our lives.

There have been years and years of complacency in the church. This has helped in bringing on a famine in the land.(yes, there is famine even in gospel saturated America) It has contributed to the break down in morals, and to an over-all loss of the reverential fear of the Lord. But God says that He is stirring up the hearts of people. The fast has lasted long enough and people are hungry for the things of the spirit. God’s desire is that this hunger be for Him, but someone has to make sure that people get their satisfaction from the right source. We need to pray for people to get hungry, and to find no satisfaction until they find the one True God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The first place Jesus went was into the wilderness. There He found that God could and would satisfy His every need. We too need to seek our Father and our Savior. We need seek for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We need to do this until we know that we know that our life comes from every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.

We need to seek Him until we know that He is able to protect us in every circumstance, and that He will do just that. We don’t have to test Him, we just have to trust Him and keep on trusting Him. Even when it looks like the enemy has broken through on us, we must remember that it looked like the enemy had won when Jesus was on the cross, but in fact that turned out to be the greatest victory of all for Jesus and for us!

We also need to understand that God is our provider and that He has given us the kingdom. That He is our source and not the world, or even the work of our own hands. We must become totally dependent upon the God in all things and worship only Him.

We must seek Him, like a thirsty man in the desert seeks a drink of water. When we seek Him this way, He will always come and satisfy. When we become truly kept by His presence and only His presence, then we will show the world where they can finally get satisfaction.

After all, if it appears that God does not satisfy us, why should anyone want what is on our plate. Why would anyone want to taste and see that the Lord is good, if we are not sure that He is all He says He is. If we will get hungry enough, we will begin to be the sweet fragrance of God, and others will want to taste what is cooking in our lives.
