PRAYER AND PERSPECTIVE
They all ate until they were full. (Mark 6:42 ERV)
I believe that it is safe to say that most of us have eaten until we were full. I realize that around the world it is possible for someone to read this who may not have a recent memory of eating this much. If that is the case I pray that you soon will.
Prayer is communication with God and as we have said it is a most important part of our conditioning in positioning us for the promises of God. Time with God changes our perspective.
How did these people get full? Was it some spiritual experience and suddenly they were no longer hungry? No it was not. Jesus provided them an opportunity and they ate until they were full. Did everyone eat until they were full? I do not know. Perhaps there were some who sacrificed thinking there would not be enough and so they passed without eating. Those same people may have complained when they saw the leftovers stacked in baskets and someone else taking them home. Anyone who did not get enough or even more than enough to eat had only themselves to blame! There is whole other message right there, but let’s finish this one!
Every day, we have the opportunity to draw on the resources of God’s Kingdom; to get as full as we desire. Are we doing it? Perhaps we are not sure God has enough and we do not want to bother Him when others have greater needs. Time with God will help us see that He has no problem meeting everyone’s needs and there is nothing that He does not care about. Thus the conditioning gives us confidence. Confidence changes our perspective and we no longer see ourselves as just one insignificant person in the crowd, but rather we see ourselves as a child of the king and taking part in the provision of the kingdom. For instance, healing is every bit as much for headaches as it is for a broken leg or cancer. Nothing is too difficult for God.
In our minds we may agree with this and even say that nothing is too difficult for God, but then go on to say that He does not need to do anything for us or He may not even want to do anything for us. Yet He said if we know what is right and do not do it is sin. Why would He withhold from us and tell us not to withhold from others? What sort of Kingdom did Jesus tell us to preach? Weren’t we supposed to continue to preach or reveal the Kingdom that Jesus came and revealed? We are called priests and kings, so this is the assignment of everyone who believes. Catch the Kingdom and spread it! The Kingdom of God is the epidemic that can and will change the world. Has it changed your world? If so, pass it on. If not, why not?
You will not gain this perspective by reading these few words, but I pray you will at least consider how you look at things and challenged to spend the time with God that will change your life. Every moment we spend with Him is a life changer. It is always beneficial. I was thinking about prayer and how we think we have no time, but what if we prayed one minute every hour that we are awake. And then when we did and we saw God at work, perhaps we would decide to pray that many minutes when we woke up and still pray one minute every hour. Soon we would see so much that we would find a way to pray at all times about all things and for all things. Not only would our perspective change, but our position would change as well and of course our posture would change.
We would no longer be uncertain or doubtful. We would have the confidence Jesus told us we should have. Isn’t this the Kingdom of God that the world needs to see? Pray about it!
