PREACH THE KINGDOM
And He said, "To what shall we liken the Kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it?" (Mark 4:30 NKJV)
I was recently considering what Jesus’ favorite subject was as He walked the earth. Since He does not change, I thought it would be safe to say that whatever it was would still be His favorite subject. As near as I can tell, His favorite subject was the Kingdom of God. Everything that He taught was related to the Kingdom. Everything He did revealed the Kingdom.
Contrary to what many would seem to think, His favorite subject was not the judgment. He was not interested in condemning people and like His Father, He had no desire that anyone should perish. He wanted everyone to understand that God made everything through Him (Jesus) for us! He wanted us to understand how to access the Kingdom. In fact He gave us the keys to the kingdom.
The Kingdom of God is something to be desired. It is full of benefits for the family of God, and He wants everyone in the family. Of course in order to get into the family a person must repent. It is very important to repent and receive Christ and it is very important to be quick to repent as we walk out our salvation. John prepared the way of the Lord by preaching repentance and judgment, but Jesus came preaching the Kingdom.
As He walked and taught, He healed, delivered, and fed the people. He showed the power of faith when by their faith they were made whole. He revealed to them the signs that would follow those who believed. He assured them and us that all things were possible to those that believed. He also taught us that above all things, we could and should depend on our Heavenly Father.
There was nothing that He could not do, and accordingly He said that we would do even greater things. These are things that Jesus emphasized. He did reveal that the end would come, but when they wanted to know when it would be, He said that only the Father knew. It is not important that we know, it is important that we be ready.
If we are living in the Kingdom, growing in the Kingdom, and sharing the Kingdom, we will not be surprised. Neither will we be discouraged nor dismayed. I see way too many people caught up in focusing on all the problems in the world, when in fact we should be more confident than ever in the revelation of the Kingdom of God. I do not want judgment to fall and teach people a lesson. I want people to fall in love with Jesus and turn from the darkness. For this purpose was the Son of God manifest; to destroy the works of the enemy. I want to see destruction swallowed up in victory. I want to see the Kingdom of God manifest. It is joy unspeakable and full of Glory and the half has never yet been told. This is the Kingdom of God, and all heaven shouts glory! Join in the praise!
