PRESS FOR THE BEST

And because you really are His sons, God has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying out, "Abba! Father!" (Galatians 4:6 AMP)

We most certainly are blessed that God would send His son and that His son would die for our sins and that God would raise that son from the dead and promise to do the same for us. This truly is knowledge beyond our human comprehension. Still many hear this and then seldom press on.
This truth is the beginning. It is like a gold nugget found on the surface. A miner will start digging right there for more. This week God told me that I had only scratched the surface. He said, “Don’t rest in blessed. Press on for the best. Don’t be satisfied feeding on the out crust.”
Last week when we talked about being satisfied, part of it was satisfaction that God is everything and that there is a lot more. I guess this was His confirmation of what He started. Oh, by the way, this conversation started when I was on the motorcycle and looked up to give Him praise. My bride was not with me so I had both hands up and as I looked up I saw a cloud that looked just the Lord standing there over me. The sky was the blue and sun was shining and there He was.
Well of course my hands went down and I began to shout of His goodness and my love for Him and praising Him for how blessed I felt. Well, I guess I need to keep digging. Whatever we need is deeper.
Now I am not talking just about things that we think will make us happy. I am talking about the real and lasting things that are in Christ. There is nothing wrong with the physical tangible things, but there is nothing in them that will last forever. Only God can heal a broken heart.
The blessing we get in momentary things, only last for a moment. Toys wear out! God never wears out. That is why we must go deeper. That is why we must never stop until we have the best. The best will be when we are face to face with our Lord.
In our lives we need fact to face time. When struggles and loss come, face to face is the only thing that will work. We need to press for that all the time, so that when the troubles come we will have practiced the most important thing.
If we rest in the blessed, we will crumble when we do not feel blessed. We will forget that the blessing of the Lord never fails. We will forget where we left the shovel so would could dig deeper.
The Lord is our best. This world we live in has some not so blessed experiences. When trials and struggles come, we can be sure “The Best” is for us.
