REJECTED TREASURE
...that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine...but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him (Eph. 4:14 & 15)
Are you a picky eater? Personally, I will eat just about anything. Once when I was in Russia, the fact that I would eat cow’s tongue convinced a person that God had indeed sent me there! Although I will eat most anything, I have learned to be careful not to eat things that I know will have a bad effect on me. It seems that artificial flavors and colors are like messengers from satan that cause reactions in my body. I am happy to say that God’s grace is sufficient and that I seek His wisdom much in this area. There are times however when I do as my daughter once told me, “daddy, just pray in tongues and eat the food!”
When it comes to the word of God, we certainly should be careful that we abide in the truth. We should be selective concerning the additives, but we must never become people who pick what we like and reject what we do not like. All of God’s word is good for us.
We began looking at the treasure of God’s Word according the measure that is given to each of us. We have briefly sown lots of seeds and now we look at the most destructive thing that can take place in the life of a Christian. Probably the most effective tool the enemy uses to destroy Christians is convincing them to reject the word of God. We can never come to the place where we refuse to taste and see how good the Lord is. When God opens our eyes to truth, we must not allow how we feel about it or what we have been taught about it to cause us to reject what God has for us.
If something is in the Word of God we should desire it. If we do not understand it, then we should ask God to illuminate it. Far too many Christians have been left stalled on the side of the road because they refused the fuel of revelation that would have kept them motoring along in the kingdom.
The truth is, we are either a part of the Kingdom of God are we apart from the Kingdom of God. If we reject the treasure, we reject the treasurer. Jesus is the administrator of the will and we are refusing to come and hear the reading. We disinherit ourselves and then stand around wondering why God is not doing His part.
He does not reject us; we reject Him! It is not my truth or your truth or anyone’s truth; it is His truth! It is His measure and His treasure and it is ours if we will walk in it. And so we have the choice once we receive our measure. We can treasure it like God intended and experience the glad tidings of the kingdom of God, or we can pick it apart and reject what we do not like. If we reject it, we cannot blame God for not doing His part. If we will treasure it, we will never be disappointed. If you are not experiencing your measure of the treasure, check and see what you have rejected.
