REMEMBER YOUR APPOINTMENT

For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him. (1 Thessalonians 5:9-10)

When we talk about forgetting God and trusting falsehoods we find at the root of it missing an appointment. There a not many people I know who have never missed or been late for an appointment for one reason or another. Not doubt there even a few appointments that we never intended to keep in the first place. As with all things, the importance we place on an appointment will directly affect the attention we give to it.

The scripture referenced for this devotion is usually relegated to end times thinking, but in my life I find that I need a Day of Lord every single day. I also know that multiple thousands of people around the world do in fact suddenly meet the Lord; some through death and some through the life that comes with salvation. I can tell you that the day I met the Lord it was a thief in the night experience. What happened as a result of that meeting was not even the last thing I ever considered, because I had never considered such a thing at all. To be honest, it was one of those appointments that I never intended to keep. It was a meeting that I never really planned to show up for. Perhaps it is because He did so much when I thought I was not at all interested that I am now so certain that He will do even more. Consequently, I don’t want to miss any appointments with His Majesty.

If we will only press into His presence, we will find an appointment with His salvation. We all know that His salvation goes deeper than a prayer and final stop in heaven, don’t we? We all know that we have a huge container with which to gather the fullness of our salvation, don’t we?

Are you convinced that you were not appointed to wrath? Some people believe that God prefers wrath over all things. This is a falsehood. We were appointed to receive salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord. Wrath is a result of the curse. We have an appointment with the fullness of salvation. Jesus was a manifestation of the fullness of salvation. In Him was light and life and this is what He secured for us.

As always, we choose which appointments to keep. With this in mind, we should make every appointment with Jesus an appointment of highest priority. There is nothing in our life that is so small that we should exclude Him from it. This is a problem many people run into; they have the idea that they should only go to God with big things and that they should handle the rest themselves. The problem with this is that there is no faith to stand on once the big thing arrives. In fact the enemy will use our refusal to run to Him all the time as a weapon to convince us that He should not listen to us now when we finally need Him. Remember, your appointment to salvation is a total package; don’t miss any of it.
