RESET

For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. (2 Corinthians 5:21 NLT)

We woke up on the first day of December to the remains of a snow storm and consequently we could not gather. In my heart and in my head, the word reset had been rolling around and the day had indeed been reset. So I have been looking forward to this message of a week.
Jesus was and is the reset of all things. Christmas is a reminder of the reset. You see, when Christ was born, it was the ultimate reset of all things. Creation itself had been waiting; people had been waiting and now the Child was born. The way of reconciliation with God was complete.
We all know about resetting. We reset our phones. We do hard resets on our computers. Reset is the answer to most things. Think about it. How many things do you reset?
Now let’s talk about us. How often would we avoid crashes in life if we would just reset our attitude and the direction we are going? It is not about self control it is about learning to turn control over to the ultimate reset source.
Jesus came so we could reset out lives. We were headed for destruction, but by the grace of God we saw a way to salvation. He sets us up for continually resetting.
Think about how many times a day we can just look to Him and we reset. When we become angry, we can reset. Sometimes we delay and get far into the wrong attitude and even actions, but still if we will stop, we can reset.
Some devices will have a little tiny hole that you stick a paper clip or needle in, in order to reset. Have you ever had to go looking for something so you can reset? You make the effort because things just won’t work unless they are reset. We are that way too. We need to reset, and it is worth the time and effort to get it done.
God went to a lot of effort and at just the right time, Jesus came and reset the world. It truly is hard to comprehend how God determines what the right time is, but He always knows. Faith is what teaches us to trust that He knows. Just as Jesus came at the right time to reset our access to God, so He will come again at just the right time and reset all creation. Until then, we spend our time learning to reset.
Sometimes we find that the past needs to be reset. Sometimes we need an immediate reset. Actually, immediate resets can be the solution to past, present, and future things. The most important reset of course is salvation and our personal relationship with God. Once we have that, we can apply Jesus to every situation. He changes everything. What can He reset for you today?
