RESTORATION PREPARATION
He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake (Ps. 23:3 NKJ)
In order to restore something it is necessary for us to desire to see it restored. I watched a show once about people who gather old vehicles that appear beyond help and they take them and restore them. Most of them are restored to better than they were in first place. It was amazing! They knew what they were looking for and how to do what needed to be done.
God is looking at us all the time and He knows what needs to be done. He promises to restore what has been stolen from us. He promises better than we can hope or imagine. He is ready to restore as soon as we realize we are in need of restoration. What we often fail to realize, is that He does not intend to stop at the restoration of our souls. So in the same way that we come to the understanding of our need for salvation, we need to understand the rest of what God has promised. Once again we see why we are urged by God to get understanding. The more we understand, the more we are prepared for the promises of God.
Not only does God restore our souls, but He has also prepared a table before us. On that table He has placed everything we need; we simply need to recognize our need and go get it.
There is no doubt that we can recognize our needs, but if we do not know that those needs are already supplied, we simply remain needy.
With this in mind, we should be prepared for restoration. Just as we spoke of anticipating great, great being God, we need to realize that His presence brings restoration. That restoration is not out in the distance somewhere but as close as the mention of His name.
Imagine your restoration as guest you have invited to your house. You make preparations for their arrival and you wait. As you wait, you might decide to do something a little extra. All of this is in anticipation of their arrival. If they are not there right on time do you put everything away and give up on their arrival? No, you don’t. In fact, you may just take advantage of that time to do something extra special.
Can you see the picture here? Once we understand God’s promise to restore, we invite Him to do just that. In other words; we see our need. We pray about our need. We invite Him into our situation. Then we look forward to His arrival. Unlike setting a time for a guest to arrive at our home we are confident in His timing because we know that He has promised to restore.
Prepare yourself for breakthroughs as you contemplate this word. I sense there is much more to it. God is giving me more understanding even as I prepare to send this out. I believe He is doing the same thing for you as you read it.
