REVELATION CHOICES

When He had said these things, He spat on the ground and made clay with the saliva; and He anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay. And He said to him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam. So he went and washed, and came back seeing. (John 9:6 & 7 NKJ)

As much as we resist the idea; as much as we may try to complicate the idea; even as much as we simply refuse to believe the idea; the truth is that the revelation of the goodness, power, grace, and miracles of God in our lives is controlled by our own choices. It always has been and always will be!

It started in the garden with Adam and Eve and it has continued to this day. When we choose to believe God, we see the miracles. When don’t choose to believe God we stop them. I know we want to think that it cannot be that simple, but the word of God is full of examples that say otherwise. Even Pharaoh was given choices.

Joshua told the people to make a choice. Moses told the people to choose God. Naman was given the choice of washing in the river seven times and very nearly missed his miracle because he thought it could not be that simple.

If you have read the Bible, you can think of incident after incident where the promise was made and the choice was left to the people. Moses chose to believe God and enough water gushed out of a rock to provide for millions of people and their animals. On another occasion, Moses had no doubt God could do it again, but he chose to use the old method rather than speak to the rock like God said.

Just think, the greatest miracle that takes place in any life is their salvation and that is a choice! Since God gave us that choice, it only makes sense that the revelation of the glory of God would be tied to choices as well. Jesus said that God would send the Holy Spirit to lead us into all truth, and we have the choice to yield or not to yield.

Now let’s look at the man born blind. Jesus said the works of God were about to be revealed. The works involved the process, not just the result. There was something to be learned if they would just pay attention. Jesus combined spit and dirt and made clay and put it on the man’s eyes. The man had no idea what was going on. He heard Jesus spit and could only wonder. All of a sudden someone is rubbing mud on his eyes. Was this another person making fun of him and entertaining a crowd at his expense? (Those things do happen you know.) Then Jesus told him to go and wash in the pool.

The man had a choice! Did he go immediately? Did he ponder it for a while? Did someone have to come and encourage him that he had nothing to lose and that it was worth a try? All we know for sure is that he went and came back seeing! God always works and we can choose what He offers or we can choose something else. Are we willing to believe that the choice is ours?
