RUN

When they were safely out of the city, one of the angels ordered, “Run for your lives! And don’t look back or stop anywhere in the valley! (Genesis 19:17)

Run! Just run. Run for your life. Run to life. Run to the life that only Jesus can provide!

So, I was thinking about what we have talked about recently. A determination to be faithful, followed by an awareness of a need to declare enough, where to now, Lord? Run, was what I heard. Wouldn’t you know it was that very day that I read about Lot?

I can’t tell you how many times I have heard people say that they want to be faithful, and they want things to change. They know they have had enough, but it is just too hard! I think it is only hard, because they keep looking back.

Part of the angel’s warning was, “Don’t look back.” There was nothing that they needed back there, and it was gone anyway! Everyone has failed but leave those failures with God. Run from what has stolen from you, to the One who has only good plans for you.

Looking back only slows you down. The football playoffs are in full swing, and we will probably get an opportunity to see someone look back and get caught and someone will explain why it is not a good idea.  If you don’t care for football, think about riding a bike or some other scenario where looking back can be catastrophic.

The only thing that the things that are behind us are good for is helping someone else to look forward to success. The Bible tells us to run the race to win. Don’t let up. And if you are tired, remember God will strengthen you.

“But I don’t feel strong enough!” You aren’t! But God is. If you have had enough and you have determined that you are going to be faithful; Run! Just run to God. He is the author and finisher of your faith.

More than likely, every person who reads this, has heard this but…maybe today is the day you see it in a way you have not before. If so, then this is just for you and God is about to do what you have not imagined before.

The weather here has been a little wintery. Extreme cold. So cold and windy that we could not worship together at Hosanna. Still, I felt God wanted this written and sent, so I happily comply. Earlier in the week as I was about to take off to pick up my wife, I had planned which roads to take. Shortly before leaving the house, the Lord said, “Go South.” That was not my plan! I had given a good deal of thought to my plan, and I will be honest and tell you that I very nearly did a double check on the road report, but I said, “No. Lord if you say south, south it is. Wow He knocked it out of the park. I thanked Him all day. His way was perfect. It always is.

Run. Just set your heart and mind on Jesus. Don’t look back! Focus on His finish line.
