RUNNING INTERFERENCE

Why are you interfering with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? (Matt 1:24)

Jesus was always disrupting things. Why do we fall under the pressure to not make waves? Jesus made it clear that even though He was the Prince of Peace, loving Him would cause a lot of storms. There is an enormous wave of peace that comes when we are present with Him and gathered with others of like faith. However, His presence interferes with the enemy’s plans.

Part of our relationship with Jesus is to disrupt what the devil is doing. That is why Jesus warned us not to be surprised when we receive less than a warm welcome! When you strike a nerve in another person and tension fills the atmosphere; you have more than likely interfered and stirred up something in hiding.

We have no need to hunt for spirits, we simply need to show up where they are with the Spirit of God working in us. We need to be aware of what is going on. The truth is, we know the enemy’s playbook. We are called to stay in the game.

Unfortunately, many people do not want to play. Many times, it seems easier to just not interfere. If we can ignore the instructions and warnings of the Lord, maybe we can just wait in peace; but that is not possible. Christ in us will not just let the evil hang around. We are warned to be alert, because our enemy the devil hangs around to see who he can devour.

When an athlete is on a team, they usually want to get on the field. They want to get in the game. There are of course exceptions and if someone ends up on the field not really wanting to be there, that is when they get hurt and hurt the team. In football, a blocker needs to throw the block and a defender needs to make the tackle. A runner needs to run hard, and a receiver needs to make the catch.

Walking with God is a competition. It is a fight for souls. Those who know God are interfering with the devil’s plans. When Jesus takes up residence in our lives He does not change. He changes us! He delivers us from the power of the devil and the devil is not happy about it! Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. When we are free, we have what is necessary to free others.

The Lord knows what is best. I was praying about the war in Israel and talking to the Lord about the evil that occurred, and the demonic influence and the Lord said, “You must forgive them! You don’t have to excuse them, but you must forgive them.” I can’t tell you how much peace I felt and how much easier it was to pray into that situation when I obeyed the Lord.

With His peace, my interference factor went much higher, and I knew that my prayers were in line with His will. Running interference has a wide range of actions and effects. Sometimes you just knock the devil off the field and other times it is as simple as just being present. Lord help us to be present and available. Give us the determination to live interfering with the ways and means of the enemy. Give us eyes to see and hearts to understand what it is that you desire. Lord, we are here to play and to stay. Amen!
