Do you ever imagine the planning process in heaven? I sometimes try to get right in there to hear what is going on! I was imagining the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit working out the plan for the ages and it seemed to me that it all worked toward getting inside of us!

Throughout the Old Testament we see the Holy Spirit coming upon people like Sampson, Moses, Joseph, and many others. We see the promises of the Holy Spirit coming to dwell in people. But of course, these were glimpses of what was to come. They were exciting, but nothing like the promised Messiah!

As usual, the plans of God are a little different than the plans of men and they determined to send the Holy Spirit to plant a seed in a young virgin, and from that seed would come a child who some would recognize but most would not.

Then at just the right time God would send the Holy Spirit down to empower the Son from on high. Oh man what a plan. The Son would be called Jesus and He would walk as a man empowered by the Holy Spirit. Once again this was to give us a glimpse of the big plan!

But toward the end, the plan looks a little ugly. At least to those who did not know the rest of the plan! Yes Jesus would be crucified, but he would also get to go into hell and smoke the devil. He would then rise from the dead and offer the Keys to the Kingdom to every man.

The key was to receive the Holy Spirit who holds all the keys! Jesus told them that they would receive power when the Holy Spirit came upon them. The sort of power that they experienced now and then when Jesus sent them out would remain on them and in them. Of course they would have a choice, just like we have a choice.

Of course to the natural mind this plan seemed to have a lot of opportunities to fail, but to God, it was the perfect plan. Not only would they dwell in us, but the Holy Spirit would also be everywhere drawing people to Christ through whom they would come to the Father and then become temples of the Holy Spirit.

Man can’t you imagine the energy flowing in heaven as they all placed their hands together in agreement and said, “Let’s do it!” Wow! Wow! Wow!

No wonder Jesus was confident to leave this in the hands of a group who ran and hid. He knew that with the Holy Spirit they die before they would deny. And now we have been sealed by the Holy Spirit and we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us; if we will receive the gift! What an opportunity.
