SHAKY

Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror(James 2:19b NLT)

Do you ever wonder why if the demons tremble at the Name and presence of Jesus, do Christians appear to be so shaky? Why is the divorce rate in the church as great as that in the world. Why are Christians addicted to pornography, alcohol, drugs, involved in adultery, and a list of other things that you could add to on your own. Why in the world are we the shaky ones? Why don’t we just stand in the strength of the name and blood of Jesus.

Right now, the church is experiencing revelation that the prophets longed for. God is doing miracles in more places and on a larger scale than ever in history. More people are being saved in a day around the world than were saved in the whole time of Jesus ministry on the earth. So why are we so shaky.

Believe me, I know that I do not have all the answers. But I do believe that one very large reason is that we are under attack by the forces of darkness on perhaps an even greater scale than the early church. The devil is being backed into a corner. He knows that his time is short. He knows that as people realize the power of God in their lives they are going to be dangerous. And so, like anyone or anything that is cornered, he is fighting for all he is worth.

It is time that Christians fought back. “Fight the good fight of faith,” the apostle Paul said. We cannot give into the lies and tricks of the enemy. We need to recognize that the war is on. Once we recognize it, then there is no problem in defeating the devil. When Christians are under attack in their marriages, or any other area of life, they need to get mad at the one attacking them and not each other. God made us to be one. We need to stand on that truth, and not look for reasons why that truth does not apply to us. We have to take it to God.

Why does it seem that the world is darker. Sin seems to be escalating by multiplication rather than addition. What was unheard of years ago, comes across television screens now. Young people are manifesting levels of rebellion that no one could have imagined. Once again, it is not just in the world. It is in the church. Our young people need to realize that God did not create them to rebel. He made them with the built in desire to honor their parents. So when they want to rebel, it is obviously the devil out to steal them. As parents, it is our responsibility to be honorable and good examples. If we aren’t, it is because we are caving in somewhere.

I recently heard James Robison say their is nothing natural about kids killing kids, or parents killing their children. It happens when people give themselves over to an un-natural power. This is the same thing that causes any Christian to go against the word of God. Somewhere, somehow, compromise opened the door to destruction. We have to quit being shaky on our commitment to God and His word. We need to operate in the power He intended. The world is depending on us to be solid on the Rock of our salvation. They may not realize it, but it is true.

If you happen to be one who is not shaky, Praise the Lord and keep growing. If as you read this, you realize that you have some areas that may be getting shaky already, or are headed there… Call on Jesus to stabilize you. Whatever you do, don’t give in any more to the things you know are not right. Remember, just a little leaven is all it takes.
