SHARING

For you shall worship no other god: for the Lord whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. (Exodus 34:14 KJV)

Did you know that God wants you share Him, but He does not want to share you? Recently I was talking with Lord about something wondering if I was doing enough, and if not what else He wanted me to do. He said, “I don’t want to share you.” “You can share me, but I won’t share you.” Right away, the Holy Spirit reminded me that God is a jealous God. Still I needed to know more of what God was saying to me.

If we are going to share Him, we need to be close to Him. If we are not close to Him when we are sharing Him, we are really just sharing information about Him. Information about Him is only processed by Him, so if He is not present not much is accomplished. It is like receiving a file over the computer that your computer does not recognize. If you do not have the program that will open the file, it just sits dormant. The word of God is never useless. It will stay in storage until the right program opens it, but wouldn’t it be better to deliver a file that is ready to read? The other drawback to sharing about God without God is that we end up sharing more of ourselves than Him.

Sometimes people will say that it does not matter where we go to church because it is all the same, but that really is not true. If God is not present the information simply sits unopened or worse, false information is released. The Holy Spirit is the program that opens up the truth. Fortunately, God is always present if someone is truly hungry, so if there is one hungry person He speaks to that one. When a person is hungry, they will get things that others never heard or experienced.

God does not want to share us with our busy-ness! Yes, God knows our hearts and He knows the danger of running on an empty tank. I have to tell you that I have run out of gas on occasion as I drove a litter further looking for a station with lower priced gas. Now I have learned to just put in a little more often, and fill up good at every opportunity. That works pretty good for my vehicle and it works even better for my spirit. In fact, we can keep a steady flow from the source if we will keep our focus on the one who loves us and is jealous for us.

Every Christian has a desire in their heart to share God and there are lots of books out there to tell us how. The truth is that many do not share God because they are not sure how and they fear they will do it wrong. However, if we just stay full, we cannot do it wrong. If are full, then He will spill out. Whatever we are full of is what comes out. So if we are full of ourselves that is what spills. If we are full of doubt, doubt is what spills. If we are full of fear, fear is what spills. What ever we are full of is what we will share. What spills when you are bumped? God knows that He is the best thing for everything. That is why He does not want to share us. That is why He wants us to stay close and let Him be the focus of our attention. Then the kingdom will be what flows to and through us!
