SHIELDED

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. (Psalms 18:2 NLT)

Sometimes we may feel like we are vulnerable. Sometimes we may feel overwhelmed. Sometimes we may even feel like we are defeated. These are all very real feelings and not the feelings we like. What can we do? What should we do? We should get behind the shield!
The truth is that God is our shield. He has not moved. The enemy lofts bombs at us and attacks our minds and our hearts and we become confused and fearful; but the Lord has not deserted us. Verse 30 reminds us that God’s way is perfect. His promises prove true and He is a shield to all who look to Him for protection. No wonder the enemy puts so much effort into distracting us from the face of God.
I woke up this morning thanking the Lord. I put out the dogs and found that our cat was not waiting to get in. I sat down to read the Bible smiling and thankful that my biggest issue was the whereabouts of the cat. Honestly, there are much bigger things that try to penetrate the shield about me, but they just are kept out. Have you ever noticed that sometimes it is often little things that mushroom on you?
Well, I took the cat and placed her in the Lords hands and in a while she came around and later she was sitting on my lap like she was sorry to be out too late. Who knows, perhaps she was home earlier wondering where I was.
The thing is; there is nothing so big or so small that the Lord cannot and will not handle it. Blessed are they would put their trust in the Lord. His promises are true and He has given us His Holy Spirit to guide and to remind us what the Lord has promised. We need to remember to keep those lines of communication open.
Do you know that feeling when you call someone and it goes right to voice mail? You instantly think that they must have shut their phone off or let the batter go dead. You try every other means of communication to find out what is up, because you know this person and…well you want to get an answer. We should be so intent on communication with God. He never sends us to voice mail. He never tells us to leave a message and He will get back to us. We can be sure of that even when the enemy is trying to convince us otherwise.
I am shielded. The Lord is my shield. I cannot be defeated. God is for me. These are simple things to remember. These are the very things that Holy Spirit is telling us and saying amen to when we say them. We know God hears us when we pray. We simply need to command the liar to go away and rest behind the shield of the Lord. Run to Him. Praise Him. Thank Him! Now!
