SIMPLE VICTORY

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world--our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (1John 5:4&5 NKJ)

Are you born of God? If you are, then you are an over comer. You can overcome anything. In fact, you will ultimately overcome death, which will be the ultimate victory for all of us. In between now and then there are a lot of opportunities to overcome, and the first step to doing that is believing that you are an over comer and that there truly is no weapon formed against you that you can not over come.

One of the greatest weapons that the enemy uses to keep us from victory is confusion. We get confused when we try to complicate the simplicity that is in Christ. When we start thinking that we are going understand everything we are easily thrown off track when we do not understand. God’s word tells us to get understanding, but it also tells us that His ways and thoughts are above ours. So if we seek understanding but still do not understand, then by faith we keep going without knowing everything. We learn to allow the peace of God to be our guide. Sometimes the only thing you will understand is that God has said it will be okay. If that is the case, then stand on that. Just because someone else may think you should have more to go on makes no difference. Don’t let anyone or anything else put fear or doubt where God has already placed peace. Of course we must be certain that we are not headed against His word.

I entered into prayer this morning with a feeling that God was opening up a great big place that He wanted me to move into. But it was so big I could not figure out what it was. I could not even see any points of reference or where the door was in case I would be so foolish as to want to go back out. It was place that felt so good and at the same time it felt like it could somehow go beyond good. It was feeling like nothing was impossible, but could I handle living like that. It was a place of such freedom with an awareness of fear of such freedom. It was like floating. And of course I wanted to figure it out, but God’s comfort came in the simple words, “trust me.”

I know that people of greater faith might think that is the cop out of one who just does not have the faith to press God for an answer, and they may be right. However, the peace that came from simply receiving that word and thanking God for it was beyond understanding. I am perfectly willing to wait for the understanding that is beyond what I know now.

If you are one who is never confused, I hope this is a confirmation to you. If you are one who has been stopped time and time again because you just could not understand, this could be your ticket to a greater freedom than you have ever known. You see the same simple faith that opens the door to salvation, opens the door to victory in all things. Keep it simple.
