You have heard the saying, Know Christ…Know Life….No Christ…No Life. Well, quite simply, that is the gospel. It is the truth. It is the good news. Everyone who knows Christ, can walk and live like Him. Note, that I said we can, not that we do. Still, if everyone would, it would take care of the world and all its’ problems.

More and more I find myself wanting to get away from all the complications that religion tries to add to the simplicity that is in Christ. It seems to me that all the truth is encompassed in Him. And yet I see more and more that people try to come up with some way that they can more perfectly accomplish what Jesus has already said is taken care of.

There is no way that I can improve on what Jesus taught and I do not even care to try. But I get letters in the mail and advertisements of what I need to be doing, what our church should be accomplishing, and how we can do it. It sort of makes one feel that if they do not order the stuff or agree with it, that maybe they have missed what God is doing. It could make a person feel like they don’t even hear God because He has not told them to get involved in the latest plan.

Fortunately for me, I am too weak to carry such burdens, so I just ask the Father what He wants. I figure He knows me better and knows what is best for all who I serve than someone who is somewhere else. So, by now you are probably wondering what my point is. Maybe there is none, maybe I am just rambling. But if there is a point this would be it.

Life is in Christ and His life gives light to the world. So if you are experiencing life, and you feel alive in Christ. Praise the Lord and let your light shine. Be sure to seek God and to do what He wants, but don’t be bogged down by things that He has not called you to. He has a purpose for everyone. Personally, I think His greatest purpose is that we love Him and enjoy the life He gives. If we do this, then we will be lights in the darkness and people will be drawn to the light. Then everything would get done His way.

We live in a world that really is without hope, but we know the One Who is Hope. Pray with me. God help me to receive the life you give each day and to shine as a bright light everywhere I go. And as I go Lord, show me the way you have planned and don’t let me be distracted by anything or anyone else. I simply love you and desire the life that you have promised me. Amen.
