SOMEONE WHO SEES GOD
Nobody can see God, but Moses lived like someone who could see God. (Hebrews 11:27)
Scripture tells us that there is no excuse for not knowing God because He is on display every day all day long. Of course some will argue this point in the end, but everyone will ultimately acknowledge and agree that He is right. He has always been right. He is never wrong!
The only reason we did not or do not see Him is because we were not looking or because we do not want to see Him? I read this verse and wrote a note that simply said, “I want to.” Again I am reminded that for so long I lived without Him, now all I do is think about Him; Father please use me. That was the Chorus to an early song. In fact it was 37 years ago that I first sang that and it is still new to me.
Seeing God changes everything! In fact, looking for Him starts the change. James told us that we could rejoice in trials if we would only look for God. He said that if we needed wisdom we should ask God. If we do see Him, how can we ask? Like Moses, we cannot see Him, but by faith we can.
I have no idea what Adam and Eve saw in the garden, but I know He walks with me. I know that He talks to me. I also know that I sometimes act like I have lost sight of Him. Of course the truth is that in those times, I maybe do not want to see Him. It is like a little child who does not want to get caught doing what they know they should not do. I honestly do not want to have any of those moments and yet, as close as He is, I find my perfection off in the distance. Thank God that faith is the substance of things hoped for.
By faith I continue to move forward. By faith I remain sensitive to His word and His promises. By faith I recover and look unto the author and finisher of my faith. By faith I am confident that He will complete the good work He has begun in me. By faith I live as someone looking for and seeing God.
I know that God can do anything. There is nothing that is impossible for Him. So even when things do not go as I would prefer, I can trust Him! I must trust Him! I must be prepared to remind myself that God is faithful and strong and He never does wrong. I also must be prepared to receive the reminder from others.
If we do not remind ourselves, God will send someone or something to remind us. Seeing God will keep us from ignoring the warning. I am reminded of the warning lights on my pickup. Those lights are often called idiot lights because they just come on for no good reason. Sometimes we can ignore them until we are the idiots for not paying attention. You just never know. With God we can know. We must keep our eyes open looking for God. Do you see Him?
