STANDING OR SHAKING
And in Your majesty ride prosperously because of truth, humility, and righteousness; and Your right hand shall teach You awesome things. (Psalm 45:4 NKJV)
Scriptures tell us of times when everything that can be shaken will be shaken. Well, let’s face it, we run into things all the time that shake us up, so what happens when things are really shaking? Do not fear! The answer is always the same, because the only answer to be found is in Christ our solid Rock. He is our majesty, and it is in our majesty that we can ride out any storm.
In our nation, we are experiencing shaking in places that we never knew there were places before. People have been shaken who never imagined that they could be shaken. People who had finances that they were sure could never be exhausted and owned more than one home are working to pay rent. We have also seen some who were thought to be financial geniuses go to jail.
Of course it is not only in the financial world that things are shaking. We have threats of terrible outbreaks of influenza on top of all the other sickness that has doctors scratching their heads. Added to that, we have the political battles over health care and industry and the list goes on and on. We do not know who is lying or who is telling the truth and are beginning to think our entire government needs a re-boot! Many people are simply reeling in wonder and confusion not knowing which way to turn. The answer of course is to stop turning and look to the Lord. Are you convinced that this is true?
The only way to stand is in Christ. Recently as I listened to a message by a well know preacher who was sharing about whether or not this shaking would be enough or if it would take more to get people’s attention and his conclusion was that it would take more. I was instantly reminded that only that which could be shaken would be shaken. So, rather than fearing the shaking, we need to be confident that only shakable things can be shaken. The things that are solid will stand. The Lord is solid and in our majesty (Jesus) we can not only stand; we can advance. In fact we should plan to advance so that we can lead others in victory in health, peace, joy, and yes even finances!
When things are shaking, people look for something solid to hold on to. Of course not every one will look to the Lord, but it is important that we be prepared to help and encourage those who do. Remember, we stand for truth in order to help others stand for truth. We advance for the sake of others. Jesus said to go and make disciples. We cannot save anyone; that is the work of the Holy Spirit. We are however called to make disciples. We need to be standing in order to do that. Be determined to advance. Lead out in praise. Go forth in joy. The Joy of the Lord is our strength.
