STAY HOME
Then the Lord told him, “I am the Lord who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans give you this land as your possession.” (Genesis 15:7 NLT)
I have no idea how the Lord does what He does. I know that if we follow Him, we always find that He knows what He is doing! He has brought everyone who calls on Him out of somewhere to a new place.
Even if we have only called in desperation, He has answered and transformed things in and for our lives. Sadly, we do not always stay close. We have all had prodigal moments. Fortunately, He is faithful even when we are not so faithful. God has plans and He sticks to them. We simply need to follow Him.
Jesus’ first call to Peter was, “Follow me.” We all have the same call to follow Jesus. It may seem complicated at times, but that is not His doing. Paul spoke of his concern that we would miss the simplicity of Christ. Just follow.
I’ve got to get closer to you Lord. Every day. In every way. Everything I do and everything I say. I’ve just got to get closer, closer and closer. I’ve got to get closer to you.
These simple words have kept me time and time again. If I am worried, I need to get closer. If I am afraid, or confused, or feeling alone, I need to get closer.
God does not offer us life in Christ Jesus and not deliver. If we have some problems or tribulations enter our lives, we need only to listen to Jesus; He told us to rejoice because He had it handled. Home is the Love of God. It is our safe place. When Jesus asked Peter if they were leaving to, Peter responded there was nowhere else to go because He was the word of life.
We never stop having opportunities to grow, and Jesus never stops helping us. This week I was supposed to go to the prison. Weather warnings of dangerous windchill and possible blowing snow were dinging in my phone, but I always want to go, and I know God will get me there and back. However, this week I was hesitating, and that bothered me! I am sorry to say that I battled this decision all morning and finally said to the Lord; “What am I doing? Lord, what do you have to say about this?” Before I got the words out of my mouth, He said; “Stay home.” Guess what, that bothered me! Why would He say that? I won’t go into all the thoughts that followed; I will just say that I found peace.
There were a few times that I just had to stick with what I was pretty sure He had said. Ultimately it was settled and that was it. The rest of the story came the next day. I forgot to mention the call to explain that I was not coming to minister. I do not like those moments. Anyway, I got a call the next day telling me that I would not have ministered anyway as the prison was locked down. Had I gone, I would have just spent three hours driving to find out I had three more hours to get home!
We can trust God. He is home. Stay home. Stay close. Stay in love with the Lord. Never Stop!
