STAY PUT
Give the right sacrifices to the Lord, and put your trust in Him. (Psalm 4:5 ERV)
If you have ever tried to get a child to stay put in a particular place, you know that you have to be persistent until they learn that when you want them to stay put you mean it. Later in life it may be that you will put that lesson to work reminding them to stay in the place that you agreed to meet. We do not always consider how or if those lessons we learn will come into play in life, they are just things that we do, unless of course we have learned in advance that these are beneficial lessons and we are using them for a very specific purpose. For instance, in the military they will learn to respond quickly when someone says stay down because failure to do so could have disastrous results. I have always told my children that if someone says duck; just do it! Don’t ask why.
Over and over again in His Word, God reminds us to put our trust in Him. Blessed are they who put their trust in the Lord. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Those who trust in the Lord will not be disappointed or ashamed. The promised blessings for trusting in the Lord are too numerous to mention in this writing but you can look them up.
Often times our response to the suggestion of putting our trust in the Lord is met with how hard it is to do. Think about that. Really! Does it make sense to say that it is hard to trust the creator of the universe?
There are times when people will say, “Well we just have to trust the Lord,” implying that it really does not do much good but it is a good thing to say. The truth is; it is the best thing to do and to say. God is faithful. He does not lie. He cannot lie!
What we need to do is believe God and keep putting our trust back where it belongs until it stays there. Just as we can tell if a child has left the spot, so we must recognize when our trust has wondered, and put it back. I just heard about a vacuum that will go and run around the room and then always return to the charger to be recharged. What a picture that is of what we need to do. We need to remain charged with the Power of God!
In Ephesians Paul reminds to stand and keep standing which is just like staying put. Every generation of Christians has recognized certain times as being the time when if ever we must trust God this is the time. We are in that time now. We must put our trust in the Lord and refuse to be moved. We must be like trees planted by the water. We must sink our roots deep into the Lord Jesus Christ. We can be sure that anyone who serves the Lord faithfully is special to Him and He hears our prayers.
So let’s put our trust in the Lord. He desires to keep the hedge up and will respond to our prayers. Pray more in the Spirit. Fast and pray. Most importantly; stay put in your faith and in your trust for the Lord and show the world around you His many benefits. You have an anointing from God. You can trust Him. Stay put!
