STAY WITH ME
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (Psalm 23:6 KJV)
Often times you will see medical people telling the patient to stay with them as they try to get them to focus and not lose consciousness in order to keep them alive. As I sought the Lord and He told me to speak about “the place” again I felt Him say, “Stay with Me.”
It is, after all, a matter of life and death for us to stay with Him. In my dream of the place, there was at the beginning a dark tunnel that I only glimpsed and then went on to this place that simply became better and better the longer I was there. But for some reason I had always thought that there was something special about that tunnel that I saw when I first came into the dream.
Well, when the Lord spoke to me about sharing more about the place, my immediate thought was that we were now going to get into that tunnel and the meaning of it. The moment I said this to the Lord was when He simply said, “Stay with me.”
I then began to realize the significance of that tunnel. It was really more of a distraction that kept me from focusing more on the dwelling place that the Lord had begun to show me. I saw it as a great place, but never really toured it to its fullest extent because I was under the impression that it was intended to get me back to the unknown, but the truth was that it was to show me how focus on the unknown can rob me of the present promises.
I then began to consider how this is in fact the battle we are in. Jesus told us to hear Him and enjoy Him now, but very often we can get so distracted by the unknown, much of which we can do nothing about, that we miss what God has for us now.
He is telling me to stay with Him. “The place” is Him and His dwelling place. David said I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Why would I want to leave that place without experiencing all that God wanted to show me in order to check out that unknown?
Funny how God can make perfect sense out of what makes no sense when we allow Him to. Just this morning there was an incident that came up and I began to go into the unknown to try and solve it. I was thinking of things that I have no control of and had a great opportunity to stress over them, when I heard the Lord say, “Stay with Me!” Oh my, talk about a whole bunch of things falling into place with that simple statement.
There is a very good reason that Jesus told us to abide in Him or with Him; He knows what is best. Don’t leave the sweet place He has for you and wander out into the unknown where you don’t belong. If He leads you, fine, then it is only unknown to you but He knows the way. Lord help us to always stay with you.
