STOP
So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done. (Acts 14:21 KJV)
There is so much that I know that I know that I do not know, but I will. You see, we all know a lot more than we know that we know and one day we will know as we are known! Christ in us knows all and the Holy Spirit is about the business of revealing all truth to us. This truth is what the enemy has always been busy trying to stop. The truth is the revelation of God.
The disciples were speaking of the resurrection of the dead and the Sadducees did not like it. But what they really did not like was this new way of seeing and knowing God. The devil does not want people to know God and he wants to punish people who do. Just like the leaders wanted to punish the disciples but could not find a way to do it because God was on their side; so it is with God on our side. The devil knows he has been defeated; do we?
Punishment is an interesting concept. When my dog barks, I threaten to punish her. When our children do wrong we have responsibility to make them accountable. When someone does us wrong we want them held accountable. Well, we are all accountable to God. We all know it even if we do not want to acknowledge it. The Sadducees could not stop the revelation of God. No one can.
Jesus came and revealed God in the flesh. They thought killing Him would stop it. We all know that did not work. He continues to reveal Himself and people still try to stop Him. I never want to stop Him again. What freedom we will find when we stop stopping God.
Our first step in giving God freedom to transform us is when we repent. Repentance is not about being sorry so much as it is about sincerely wanting to change. It is about turning from sin unto God. It is about putting a stop to unbelief.
Romans 12 tell us to present ourselves to God. He is more than willing and able to lead us into all truth. The greatest truth for each of us is our understanding that we need Him. Oh how we need the Lord!
It is amazing to be able look back and see that we were basically denying our need of God. It is sad how blatantly we see this on public display. The good news is; God is unstoppable. He will accomplish what he has promised.
Oh I want to stop stopping God. I will one day. I pray that I will see more clearly exactly when I start to move in that direction and that I will stop and turn. I know the truth is in me. I know that God has good plans for me. I am determined to stop stopping His plan.
