TELL THEM EVERYTHING
"No, go home to your family, and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been." Mark 5:19 NLT)
I had a thought this week about crowd noise and how all that noise can drown out the main voice. Have you ever asked someone to stop talking so you could hear something that you wanted to hear? Of course you have; we all have. Have you ever had something important to say and asked for silence so you could be heard? Of course you have. We all have things we want to hear and things that we want heard.
The bible tells us about the most important things. Of course those things are not important until they are important to us. Nearly everyone can testify to times when what the bible had to say had no meaning them. If we are honest, all of us from time to time ignore what it says even now. Then like Peter, we have the opportunity to strengthen others when we have recovered.
The important thought here, is to tell someone. When we understand something or know something, the tendency is to want to share it. The problem with the good news is that there is great resistance against the speaker to speak it and the hearer to hear it. That is why we must be determined to speak because faith comes by hearing and hearing. If ever you feel like, “what is the use,” that is a good time to double down when it comes to sharing the mercy of God.
Look around us. Can you believe all the advertizing? I find myself amazed at some of the things that are advertised, but they just keep advertising. They know that there are a lot people shaking their heads at such things, but they don’t care. They know some will hear.
The sad truth is not everyone wants to hear of the Lord’s mercy; the important truth is that everyone should have the opportunity. When Jesus delivered this man, the people of region asked him to leave. Jesus left, but told the man to go and tell everyone what the Lord did for him and how merciful God is. The next time Jesus came to that area they flocked to see Him.
If you think about it, Jesus did not allow the man to come with Him, but actually Jesus accompanied the man. Jesus has promised to go with us into the entire world. Remember, souls are precious.
We did not understand at one time, but now we do. We should feel free to tell how wonderful God is. We are all advertisers of the things that we think are important. The opportunity to express how good God is will present itself. Go ahead and tell them everything the Lord has done for you and how merciful he has been. Be ready at every opportunity to defend or express the hope that is in you. Ask the Lord to help you.
