THANK GOD FOR WHO HE IS

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. (Psalm 136:1 NLT)

God is so completely good; He is just, He is kind, He is so much more than we can hope or imagine. Please stay with me as I add that God is easy to please! If you believe that God is, you have pleased Him! He can work with that. He will work with that.

We can always give God thanks for who He is! He does not change when our circumstances change. He does not move away nor does His love for us change when the way we look at Him changes. He is faithful even when we are not. So thank your way back to where you belong.

Never let your gratitude go. You can growl thank you if you need to, but do it! Psalm 136 reminds us that He is the God of god’s, He does miracles, He created all things, and He has a mighty arm! It goes on to list the amazing things He did for Israel; what does that have to do with us, we might wonder; it has everything to do with us because He is always the same and He is just as able to do wonderful things for us.

The psalm ends telling us that He remembers us in our weakness, He saves us from our enemies, and He gives food to every living thing! The greatest theme of it all is the continual reminder that His faithful love endures forever. Stop and give some thanks to the Lord. He deserves it.

We know that He is our healer, deliverer, comforter, protector, provider, and on and on the list goes. We need to pray and ask Holy Spirit to remind us when we lose sight of how faithful God is. A song we love to sing reminds us that even when we can’t see it and we don’t feel it; He is working.

What is best for us? Is it better to dwell on the problem or to dwell on God, who is working on the problem? Thank you Lord that your eyes have not grown dim and that Your arm is as strong as ever. Yes, Your faithful love endures forever!

I don’t know about you, but I need to remember the powerful effect that God has on my life. I know that every time I thank Him it changes the direction of whatever is going on, but I often find myself walking down the wrong path further than I should. Sometimes I know I need to turn around but I take a couple more grumbling steps first.

The path we are on might be doubt, fear, anger, confusion, revenge, or any of a number of things; the point is that those things will do us no good. If we will begin to simply give thanks to God for who He is and for His wonderful love it will turn our hearts and minds back to where He can work on our behalf with the greatest efficiency.

We know that He knows and that He is for us. Thank you Lord for being so faithful!
