THAT THE WORLD MAY KNOW
I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. (John 17:23 NKJ)
How will the world know anything if we show them nothing? It occurred to me as I meditated on Jesus’ prayer that many of us get trapped and stay trapped after believing in Jesus as our Savior. What do I mean by trapped? Well, we come to understand that we were headed for hell, but now we are going to heaven and just stop there! Basically, we skip the most important step of life in Christ Jesus, waiting for heaven with Him.
He did not want us taken out of the world, He wanted us kept or protected from the evil one. He wanted God to do for us what He did for Him so the world would see that He was who He said He was and that He could do what He said He would do! So if we remain trapped in the holding pen for heaven, we miss the Kingdom of God and the world misses seeing what Jesus wanted them to see!
This little trap was what the devil came up with to keep us from doing extra damage to his kingdom. If he can’t keep people from salvation, at least he can keep them from experiencing God’s good plans and revealing them to others. Just think about it. How many of us have gained the assurance of going to heaven, but never really considered the things God promised us for now in this lifetime? That is because many of those things have been relegated to the time of the first Apostles and declared gone. The truth is, that what Paul and Peter and the others came to understand was written so we could walk in it too!
For centuries there have been a few who experienced what God intended, but very few expected it for themselves. Consequently we have heard about great men and women of God and their experiences but did not dare to think it was the way things are supposed to be for everyone. In fact, the devil did all he could to get religious folks to discredit them. Does that sound familiar? So the majority of believers remain in waiting, hoping to go to heaven someday. In the mean time, the Kingdom God waits for us to enter. I really believe that God is on a mission to break everyone out and I am hear to tell you the door is open and the Holy Spirit is ushering people to their new and glorious seats in the Kingdom of God. Scales are being removed and people are starting to see the truth.
Jesus wants to be glorified in us the same way that God was glorified in Him. Jesus wants people healed, delivered, protected, and provided for by God just the way He and those around Him were when He walked the earth in physical form. Jesus wants the world to know that there is life in Christ Jesus now, and in the end there is heaven. No one should sit in the holding area any longer.
People really can’t imagine what heaven will be like, but they can imagine what a good life would be like! That is the life that God has always intended for us. It is what Jesus requested for us. Let’s receive it and show it to the world!
