THE BLOOD
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way...let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith(Heb.10:19,20, 22NKJ)
We sing about the blood,(probably not enough)we read about it and talk about it,(and some even have a true understanding of it)but most of us…well, we wish we knew. I am writing here, about something that I really want a deeper understanding of, and I believe it is so important that God would have me write it in order to stir all of our hearts to get a greater understanding. Some might wonder what business I have in writing about something I do not even understand. I think you would find that most people who write about the things of God would say that they get understanding as a they write. They also realize that even as they write they only know in part. So with that, let’s go on.
God said from the very beginning, that the life was in the blood. I read a statement in a Morris Cerullo book that said, it was not His death, nor even His precious broken body, that sealed the New Covenant. It was His blood. I have to tell that my first reaction was one of wondering what planet the guy was from, and what business he had of taking away from the great sacrifice of Jesus. Then I read it again, and realized that what he said was exactly what the Word of God said. The New and better Covenant was sealed in His precious blood.
Do you ever consider the importance we place on blood in our world today. We have blood drives so we don’t run out. It is so powerful and can carry such disease now that we don’t want to get near anyone else’s blood, unless we are sure it is pure and clean. Everything to do with our health is associated with and dependent upon our blood. If we run out of blood, we run out of life. If our blood is not strong, we are not strong. When we are injured, our blood carries out the fight on our behalf. Let’s face it, as a society, we have understanding of the importance of blood to our lives.
So then, if we multiply that by some number to big to imagine, we might have some semblance of understanding of the importance of Jesus blood for our total being. His is pure blood!! No wonder we should plead the blood of Jesus over sickness. Talk about a transfusion that will make one well. What about dangerous situations? Why, when the blood of Jesus is applied, the power of the creator of the universe is there to surround us! It is His covenant with us. Think about how this can work in your life.
When Jesus spoke to the people of eating His flesh and drinking His blood in John Chapter 6, they knew He was talking about a covenant. But it was a difficult one for them. You see, so far they had been in a covenant with God where God was the one making the promise. He was the only one who was really committed, and they just gave bulls and goats once in a while to keep Him on their side. Jesus was talking to them about a commitment on their part as well as His.
Yes they would receive all He had, but in this one they were to give themselves to Him. This one was going to require that they enter into covenant, and not just be receivers of the covenant. Though in truth we are the biggest benefactors in this covenant, there are a lot of people standing outside the veil because they just won’t make that total commitment. If we can only understand that no matter how much we give to the relationship, it is nothing compared to what we get back, we won’t be so hesitant. After all, He sealed His part in His own blood, He just asks that we partake.
