THE CONDUCTOR
He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. (John 16:14)
As we have considered our song and the need to stay in tune the Lord has brought forth simple truths to help us on our way. We each have a part to play and thanks to the Lord we are actually in perfect tune. Of course no matter how well an instrument is tuned, it still requires ability in order to play it. The ability is developed through practice and is of course dependant on a number of different things.
Of course, all of these musical pictures have been used to help us to understand how this all works in the realm of our walk of faith with God. Fortunately, our ability to play a musical instrument has nothing to do with our ability make and be a beautiful song unto the Lord. However, it is important that we all are prepared to play our part as we are walking with Him in a world that is waiting for Him to be revealed.
How will we do this? Well, we have the conductor who is ready to bring the musical symphony to perfection at just the right time, and the right time is now if you hear His voice.
When I was in school I had the privilege of participating in All State Chorus. People from all over the state were selected. These small groups practiced individually in their local schools, and then for three days everyone gathered from all over the state to turn the small groups into one large chorus. A guest conductor was brought in to fine tune the performance. Of course, some groups were more ready than others, but when more than five hundred people began to sing things would always fall together and the results were amazing.
Our conductor for this spiritual symphony is none other than the Holy Spirit who Jesus promised would lead us into all truth. You see, our song must be truth. It must be in tune with the truth and must reveal the truth. If we pay attention to the conductor, we will play the song the way it is intended to be played. We will come in where we are supposed to and play the right notes. We will know when to rest and when to prepare to attack. We will be on time and in time and when we are to be loud or soft or somewhere in the middle.
Just as Jesus said that he could do nothing without the Father, so it is that we can do nothing without the Holy Spirit. He is the conductor. Jesus sent Him, to lead us into all truth and that brings glory to Jesus. Our part is really quite simple. We simply need to prepare ourselves by filling up on the truth. Then when it is time for our song, the Holy Spirit will remind us of the truth and show us how to apply it. We simply need to pay attention to the conductor and our part of the song will glorify the Lord. When everyone is playing their part, the symphony causes a great celebration in heaven and in the earth.
