THE GLORY OF GOD
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus(Philippians 2:5 NKJ)
Every where we turn these days we are hearing of the importance of the presence of God. People are desiring to experience the presence. This always begins because God initiates it. It was His presence that defeated Israel’s enemies, supplied their food and water, and led them everywhere they went. When they were totally dependent upon God, everything went just the way God wanted it to go. Next He came in the flesh in the person of Jesus Christ. Now by the Holy Spirit, He has begun to manifest His presence and as people have entered into this, it has produced a wonderful chain reaction. We are beginning to realize why God stressed our need for Him so much. The more we experience His presence and His glory, the more we are willing to let go of all that keeps us from Him and His perfect will.
So then, it stands to reason, that we should have the same mind that was in Christ. He gave up His equality with God and as a result gained even greater glory. What do we really have to give up that could come close to what Jesus gave up. How could He give that up? He knew the presence of God in a way that we never will until we stand face to face with Him. He had complete confidence in His Fathers ability to accomplish all that He promised. Because of this faith, Jesus came, ministered, died, was raised from the dead, and ascended into heaven where He sits interceding for us!
Peter, James, and John, caught a glimpse of the glory and experienced much of the presence of God. All of this, combined with the great power and revelation they received when the Holy Spirit came upon them and all the others, made them mighty and selfless for the cause of Christ.
The Apostle Paul experienced a major revelation of the presence and power of God, one that caught him up with all the others who had traveled for years with Jesus. Why did God do this? Because He had much for him to do.
So why is God doing this now in such a way all over the world? Because there is much to do! The more time His people spend in His presence the more we lose the grip on those things that hold us back. People wonder why Christians fly all over the world to experience the out pouring of God’s presence. They may wonder why we would want to just sit for hours in a state of Holy Spirit Fullness. It is because of the presence of God. And God wants us to wait in His presence.
His glory tells the story. He wants us to get so saturated with His presence that we will indeed, have the same mind that was in Christ. So that no matter what we have, we will reach for what is better. And God just keeps getting better and better. Not because He changes, but because we can see Him more as He is!
Can you imagine the reunion between Father and Son when Jesus returned to His rightful throne. Well, it is much the same as when we enter into His presence. Except, now we only see and experience in part, but then, oh then, it will really be something.
