THE KEY TO HAPPY
Happy are the people whose God is the Lord! (Psalm 14:15b NKJ)
Well, that pretty much says it, so there is really no need for me to go on with this devotion; but of course, you know I will. I will because I know that we are all guilty at times of not believing that God’s Word is really that simple. We know if God says it is, that it should be, but we are more inclined to give up than we are to stand on the truth. It is time we changed that!
How many people watched and said it won’t work when people were attempting to invent the automobile, electricity, the light bulb, or the computer? How many actually believed the internet would ever be what it is today? How many of us had opportunities to ride the wave of some things and never bothered to even get near the water? Now we can see all the opportunities that floated by and we just shake our heads. Now how many of us believe there are other opportunities ahead and we want to make sure we do not miss them? How many just figure they were not meant to ride any of those waves?
Those are just a few questions among many more that we can all consider as we declare that God did not really know what He was talking about when He said things that implied that happy was as simple as trusting Him!
For every person who says it is not that simple, there must be someone else who has found that it really is. Well, maybe for every hundred or so who says no it is not there is one who says it is. Even if it one in ten thousand who has found it to really be that way, there is one who has experienced the truth. If it works for one, then it must work!
Hey, people will buy lottery tickets with much larger odds than that looking for the big win. I have good news. God does not work like the lottery. His odds are one to one! We trust. We win. We trust more. We win more! It really is that simple. If it isn’t, then God lied. Just to clarify. The results are that simple, even though it may take effort on our part to develop that kind of trust
Computers did not start out working like they do now but the potential was there. It took a lot of effort on some folk’s part for us to be able to do what we can do now. It takes some effort on our part as well to overcome doubt, fear, and persecution as we work out all the greatness of God’s salvation. The sooner we are convinced that His Way is The Way, the sooner we are riding that wave.
I am convinced that happy opens the door to more of the Kingdom of God. If we are happy to be saved, we will be happy to know more and experience more. When we allow God to be our source of happy, we will believe Him for all of His promises. On the other hand, if we don’t even believe He can provide happiness, how will we believe He heals, delivers, provides, and protects. Just read and absorb Psalm 144 through 150. Do note that He turns the wicked upside down, so stay out of wickedness and be happy.
