THE LORD'S FAVOR

He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord's favor has come, and with it the day of God's anger against their enemies. (Isaiah 61:2 NLT)

Do you ever really consider what it means to have the Lord’s favor? We should all set aside more time to just ponder that thought. When we know that we have a persons favor, we do not hesitate to go to them no matter what the need. They could be angry with everyone else, but we would feel free to go right up to them anyway.

There are a lot of people that see God as just as the angry one in the sky. But those who know Him know that is not the case. People who know they have God’s favor just keep going to Him and going to Him. And guess what! They keep getting just what they ask for. They keep their joy and their peace. Even when things seem to be going wrong, they keep counting on God’s favor. I want to be like that.

This is the same scripture that Jesus quoted in the temple and when He had finished He told them “today this word is fulfilled.” To me that says that with Christ this scripture became the official standard for believers. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, that is the day that the day of the Lord’s favor begins in our lives. It is on that day, that notice is served against our enemies. It is on that day, that death no longer has any power over us. And as strange as it may sound, that is only the beginning.

The more we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, the more certain we are that there is no good thing that He will withhold from us. The more we come to understand the power that He has working for us who believe, the more convinced we are that all things are possible with God. The more we understand the measure of His love, the more we can look at any mountain and expect it to move and when it is moved we see the great thing God has made for us.

With confidence in the favor of the Lord, we know that there is no weapon that is formed against us that can prosper. We also know that God will restore anything that the enemy steals from us. Even when it seems that victory is a long time in coming, we have that assurance that we are the focus of God’s favor, and God cannot fail.

One of the enemies favorite tricks is to try and get us focus our attention on him and what he is doing. You and I both know what happens when we do that. We get miserable and so does everyone around us.

We can outsmart the devil if we will keep our attention on the Lord and what He does for those He favors. And as a bonus, we can remind the devil of the plan God has for our enemies. Don’t you feel better already?
