THE OTHER SOWER
"He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man." (Matthew 13:37 NKJ)
Bible reading Christians know the parable of the sower. We know about the seed and how some is taken by birds, some has no root and withers, some is choked by the cares of this world, and some lands on good soil and produces a harvest. This causes us to take stock of what kind of soil we are when the seed of the Word of God is sown in our lives. The question that came to my mind recently was how prepared are we for the other sower.
The other sower is the devil and he does his best to sow seeds in the lives of believers that can in fact choke out the good seed of the Lord. His seeds are doubt, fear, selfishness, bitterness, and a whole list of other things that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God.
God has given us every weapon that we need to exterminate those weeds, but wouldn’t it be far better if our ground was simply dead to his efforts. Would it be so bad if we were so saturated with the truth that no lie could exist in our presence? Instead of having to cast down imaginations wouldn’t it be nice if praise simply rose up and intercepted those rockets that are launched against us? Then we would be like Jesus and quickly inform the devil that he has no place in us.
I believe the Rock of the Word can harden us so that when the enemy throws them they are immediately gathered up by the eagles that we regularly soar with? Or how about if they land and even try to grow that there is just no where for them to take root and the fire of the Holy Spirit instantly fries them.
And what about when the enemy comes to threaten us with doubt and fear and the cares of this world; wouldn’t it be nice if we just applied the crown of thorns and the blood of Jesus to those thoughts and accusations? My, oh my, can’t you just feel the victory rising?
And finally, what about having ground so rich and crowded already with the seed of the Son of Man that the enemy bypasses the field in search of another to devour?
The good seed in is the truth. The truth sets us free. The truth produces a harvest. The truth protects and provides. Understand this. We do not need to worry about that other sower. His seed will not grow where the truth is on guard. Do not allow him to sow seeds of doubt, fear, sickness, or any other thing in your life. Sink your roots in the truth and fly high with the eagles.
