THE POWER OF JESUS
They asked them over and over, "How did you make this crippled man well? What power did you use"...We want all of you to know that this man was made well by the power of Jesus Christ from Nazareth. (Acts 4:7 & 10 ERV)
Scripture tells us that Jesus accompanied the disciples and confirmed what they said with signs following. The signs gave the people something to consider. Ecclesiastes tells us that we cannot make people see but Jesus has given us the tools to at least give them something to look at or point them in the right direction.
When they asked Peter and John how they made the crippled man walk, they said it was the power of Jesus. Ephesians 3:20 says that with God’s power working in us, He can do more than we could ask or think. He can do it! His power is waiting to manifest. He is the power; we provide a circuit for Him to flow out of.
When we put our trust in His power, we provide evidence for people to consider. The results belong to God. The reception is always subject to the will of the observers. Just as it was in Jesus day and the time of the original believers, some believed and some wanted to kill them for what they saw.
The key is that they saw something. Scripture assures us that God is evident everywhere, we simply have the privilege of pointing Him out. A crippled man walking is a great thing, but much smaller things have the potential to produce larger results in an observer’s life.
For instance, when we allow the power of God to produce peace in the midst of a storm of life and someone sees and asks how do you do that? They are asking what the power source of our peace is. That is the power of Jesus.
When there is confusion all around and you pray for wisdom and know what to do, and someone asks, “How did you know what to do?” That is the power of Jesus.
When we give the honor and glory for the power of God to the God of the power, we provide people with something to consider. So then we must consider for ourselves just how great is the power of God that is working in us?
When we come to the obvious conclusion that it is pretty great because He is great, it should produce confidence in us to go and open the circuit and allow His power to flow in our daily walk of life and always be ready to share what the power source is.
It is the power of God working the will of God. Jesus is ready to confirm the truth that He is alive and working to reveal Himself to a world that desperately needs Him. So what power is working in you? Go ahead and say it. The power of Jesus! Good job.
