THE SALVATION OF GOD

He who offers a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving honors Me; And to him who orders his way rightly, who follows the way that I show him, I shall show the salvation of God. (Psalms 50:23 AMP)

What is the salvation of God? Is it just a heavenly end to our earthly lives? Reading the Bible, it looks like God wants it to be an earthly preview of what it is to come; a heavenly warm up.

Here, He shows us how to look beyond the obstacles of this life to a time when there will be no more of the trouble. As we do that, we experience freedom in the midst of trouble.

Today is a national day of prayer in America. It is an opportunity to pray for the end of the Corona Virus. More than that, it is time to pray for peace in a panic. Peace is a big part of the salvation of God.

The salvation of God enables us not worry about anything but rather to pray about everything. We can look unto God who is the author and finisher of our faith. He is the Lord of salvation. Of course if you are reading this; you know this. Strangely, we all need to be reminded from time to time about the things we know.

In Jeremiah chapter 6, we see a time when God was reminding the people that He told them to ask where the good way is and then walk in it. He said that in doing this they would find rest for their souls. But they said they would not do that. I read that and I immediately went to God and asked Him to help me to never knowingly, willingly, and intentionally refuse His direction.

But what if I go ahead and worry? What if I worry more than I pray? What if I doubt that God is listening or that He even cares? Thank you Holy Spirit that you remind me! But what if I still go my own way? God reminds us to return to Him.

The more developed we are at returning, the quicker we will do it. The more we experience His salvation, the shorter the distance we will get away from it.

One way to stay close to God is to stay away from what is not God. In midst of this panic, one big warning is to stay away from people. If you don’t feel well stay away! Everyone is talking about staying away. Activities are being shut down to keep people from getting together. In one state or maybe all states the rule is no gatherings of more than 500 people. People are taking extreme measures to keep from getting this virus.

Why then, does it seem unreasonable for us to do what God says? Why would we hesitate to stay away from what could do far more that make us sick? Every word of God is good for the working out the fullness of our salvation. We have not begun to see what all is ours in Christ. Lord, may we look to You at all times. May this virus die suddenly. Show us your salvation.
