THE SAVIOR

"Don't be afraid!" he said. "I bring you good news of great joy for everyone! The savior--yes the Messiah, the Lord--has been born tonight in Bethlehem, the city of David!(Luke 2:10-11)

Great Joy for everyone! Now that is good news! But where is it? Where is the Joy? We look around us and we may see some joy if we look hard enough. Mostly, what we will find is some momentary happiness that comes from a little relief from the cares of the world. Along with this comes an attitude that one should enjoy it while it lasts, because it is sure to change. Do you know people that feel this way? Are you a person who has felt this way? Perhaps this is the way you feel most of the time.

In truth, everyone wants joy, but few have any idea where to find it. Even Christians seem to be more inclined to cast gloom and doom on things rather than to believe what the Angel said. It seems the overwhelming consensus is that real joy will only be found in heaven, and until then we should struggle through the best we can. But that is not what the angel said. The angel said that it was good news of great joy for everyone.

Whether people realize it or not, the whole world has benefited from that good news. Our world would not be like it is today, had the Lord not been born. It never would have lasted this long. If we do not believe this, then we really don’t believe much of anything that the Bible teaches.

If the messenger of the Lord said that this was good news and that it was to provide great joy for everyone, then we should walk in that Joy. The Joy of the Lord, which is our strength. The Joy that comes from believing every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Jesus said that was where we would find true life.

To those who believe this message, I say prove it. First to yourself, and then to the world around you. Show them the joy that the angel promised. Give them reason to hope and to believe that this is a true message. Make it your mission to reveal the Life that is in Christ Jesus to the world.

To those who do not or have not seen the joy, I say forgive us for not revealing it to you. I also encourage you to look to the angels message and the life of Christ Himself for the greatest example, to challenge people you may know who should be showing you the great joy, to reveal the joy of the Lord to you.

I pray that this day and everyday will be a day of great joy as we enter into the promise of the angel. The Savior–yes the Messiah, the Lord was born and lives, and is coming again. Rejoice, today and forevermore.
