THE VOICE OF THE LORD

The Lord's voice is powerful. It shows the Lord's glory. (Psalm 29:4 ERV)

If you can or will believe it, you are the voice of the Lord in this land of the living. His voice is powerful; we just need to give Him a voice! He assures us that His words accomplish what He says they will and that He watches over them to perform them. As we spoke of valuing God previously, we need to be aware that when we value someone their words are important to us.

How often have you simply repeated something that someone else said? For better or for worse, once the words are out there they are going to perform in one way or another. This is why the Lord speaks of controlling our tongues. Why is it so easy to repeat or to say things that have little value, but we encounter such resistance when it comes to saying what the Lord says? It is because the enemy fights with all he has to keep the voice of the Lord from going out to accomplish the will of God.

Yes, if you believe that God is who He says He is, then you are the voice of one crying in the wilderness. God did not create the world to be a wilderness, but that is what it is. It was not created to be dark, but it is. Jesus said we are the light of the world. We must say, “Light be!”

Remember when Jesus walked the earth and God spoke, very few heard God. When God spoke to Israel, they did not want to hear. Today there are many who simply do not want to hear and others that just cannot hear, but for both, we are the voice of God. We give voice to Him!

The Holy Spirit goes about drawing and wooing people into the Kingdom, but as Paul said they need to hear. Someone must give a voice to God. I knew something was telling me lots of things but I was very hesitant to acknowledge that the something was really someone and that the someone was God! Now I can hear God’s voice everywhere. I just need to be sure that I help others to hear as well.

Just like the talent show, “The Voice,” people tune in to hear the voice. More and more I see people praying and giving God a voice. Not everyone catches that, but if even one does it is great.

Not everyone will hear God when we give Him a voice, but someone will. Speak of His goodness. Reveal His wonders. Repeat what He tells you. Jesus taught in stories. We all know stories and God fits in every single one. Your testimony gives God a voice. Your countenance gives God a voice. Your attitude and way of looking at things can speak volumes to people.

So what do you say? Rise up and be the voice of the Lord!
