THE WAITING IS OVER
He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. (John 16:14 NKJ)
We all know what it is like to tell someone something and have them pay no attention what so ever to what we told them. How much do we like that? If we are honest, we admit that we do not like it at all. When we tell someone something it is usually because we are convince it will work and we want to help them out. Would it seem reasonable then to say that Jesus feels the same way?
He told us that He was going to send us a helper. He told us that we would receive power when He came and that He would lead us into all truth. This was Jesus talking, remember! Of course He came just like Jesus said He would. He did not come just like the people expected, but He came just as Jesus promised. The only confusing thing about it was the preconceived ideas that others had about how He should show up.
That sounds familiar when you think about it. People did not necessarily agree with the way the Jesus came in the first place either. Since we have the benefit of a lot of time and a lot of truth, we should be able to get over the hurdles of what is and what is not expected and just get on with what Jesus told us to do. It would be good for us if we did it with a determination to see it all the way through to end with no stopping points in between.
We know the Holy Spirit draws us Jesus. We should not stop there. Often time’s people think that is far enough. They discover salvation through Christ and that is good enough. But what about Jesus command to receive the Holy Spirit and power.
Oh yes there is that rest area that says, “If God wants me to have that He will make it happen.” What about desiring the things of God? What happened to the idea of seeking, asking, and knocking?
How do you like it when you have a gift for someone and they don’t care if you give it to them or not? We all enjoy it more when someone is an enthusiastic receiver of our gifts. Don’t you think God enjoys it when we are excited about the gifts and plans He has for us?
Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would glorify Him. He loves to glorify Jesus, and He waits for us to turn Him loose in our lives. We need to seek Him, love Him, and trust Him; and as we do, we will behold the Glory of God.
Don’t scrutinize the Holy Spirit or analyze or put any restrictions on Him. Jesus said He was a friend who would lead us into all truth. We can trust Jesus and we can trust the Holy Spirit. None of us are walking in all the power He has for us. We would all benefit from a fresh filling and resolve to never let up this side of heaven. The waiting is over; it is time to act!
