THE WONDERS OF GOD
Future generations will hear about the wonders of the Lord. (Psalm 22:30 NLT)
God saved my life this week. There are many occasions in my life where I can say that I think God spared, protected, or rescued me, but this time He told me clearly at the time of the incident. This is one of many wonders of God that I will tell anyone who will listen and even those who won’t or would mock me for saying such a thing, but it is the truth, and I live to tell the wonders of God. In fact if I would spend my time telling the wonders of God, it would keep me from saying things that I should not say. This would be a good place to put a smiley face.
Just think about that. How much better would it be if our minds were set on the wonders of God and of sharing them? I believe there would be any number of benefits, but two great ones would be that as we are focused on His wonders, we would see more of them manifested and the other would be that we would have much better control of our tongues and our thoughts. If you are a bible reader, the Holy Spirit is giving you verses that confirm this and you are thinking of directions this devotion could take. You may also be being reminded of times when it sure would have been better to speak of the wonders of God than what you recently spoke! To be honest, my plan for this is simply to talk about the wonders of God and the benefits of recognizing and sharing them.
With people once again predicting the end of the world and waking up only to find that they missed it again, I think it would be a lot better to predict that God will be even more wonderful tomorrow than He is today. It would be better to have people think you are foolish for saying that than to have them know you are because you predicted the end of the world. By the way, the world will end, but I do not know when! I even heard that someone found a way to capitalize on the idea by offering to take care of pets after the people were gone, because this person was a card carrying atheist and would be around to do it, he was actually receiving money from people with no refunds if it was not the end of the world.
We can all agree I believe that God knows things that we do not. He is smarter than us and He is always right. He is always faithful. Whatever is good and perfect comes from God. Only God has the power to save souls. This is yet another wonder of God. This Psalm assures us that our children will serve the Lord. Why will they serve the Lord? Because we will tell them the wonders of God! And we will keep telling the wonders of God and we will see more of the wonders of God and on and on it will go.
Ok, so let me finish the story of how God saved my life. It is not secret that I enjoy riding my motorcycle. This week I wanted to take it but the weather forecast was not favorable. I checked and checked and finally I asked God! Yah, I know, why didn’t I ask Him first! Well He indicated that four wheels was the order for the day. So off I went and the weather remained good. Several times I lamented to others that I really wish I would have ridden my bike, and each time I was reminded of what God said.
As I finished the day and headed home actually wishing it would have rained so I would feel better about not riding the bike, a series of things took place on the highway in front of me and at that moment the Lord spoke very clearly to me pointing out that if I had ridden the motor cycle I would have most certainly hit a large truck and that would have been the end of my earthly usefulness. As he said it, I saw perfectly exactly all of the things that would have been different and that I would have in fact been pasted to the side of a truck. God protected me eight hours before the incident and then told me about it. He knew and now I know and that is why I love to declare the wonders of God. Let all the people praise Him!
