THE WORD OF CHRIST
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. (Col 3:16 NKJ)
Christmas is coming, and Christmas is about Christ. Now that sounds a bit simplistic I know, but sadly there are lots of people who have forgotten that simple truth. Worse yet, there are many voices doing their best to remove this knowledge from whole world if possible. Of course it is not possible to remove the creator of the world from the world.
As followers of Christ, we do have a responsibility; a mandate from the Word of God to allow this Word to dwell in us so richly that it overflows in song and truth to one another. This is such a blessing to the Lord and sows great seeds of truth into the atmosphere.
We carry the wonderful truth about and the very Spirit of Christ within in us. It is in Him that we live and move and have our being. Everything that was made, was made by Him. No person has ever lived that He did not make. There is no life without Him. The list of simple truths concerning Christ would fill more space than any computer could hold. Someone might say that is not a true statement, but they would be wrong. This is because each simple truth concerning Christ is multiplied again and again in each person who receives Him. He manifests Himself in each life in ways that we do not even know. So truly, if it all could be recorded there would be no storage except God’s hard drive that could contain it.
There is a reason that we are reminded to meditate often upon the Lord and upon His Word. This focus opens our minds to the wisdom and teaching of the Holy Spirit. We must be led by the Spirit into all truth. If we reject the Spirit, we reject the truth!
When the Angel of the Lord came to Mary and told her that she would have a child who would be the savior of the world, He said that the Spirit of God would be the father. At first she wondered, but in the end she agreed to whatever God wanted. This is the simplest of truths to those who believe, but still foolishness to those who reject the truth. Are you convinced that this is true? Is there any part of you that doubts this at all, or that is open to some discovery channel explanation that is more comfortable for you and others? Remember, only the truth can make you free, and if there is any part of you that is open to lies, you are susceptible to following those very lies. Many are weak, and sick, and even die, from the smallest seeds of doubt that if left to grow will choke out the truth.
Jesus started out as a child and lived a sinless life. He was tempted the same way that we are but He chose not to sin. Because of this, He qualified for the position of the Lamb of God that took away the sins of the world. Whoever believes this truth and calls on Him and invites Him into their hearts is saved. Truly if you have the Son you have life and if you don’t you don’t! There is no variance in the message. This is what Christmas is all about. Talk about it to one another. Talk about it in your family. Encourage people on the street. We have reason to be merry Christians! We know the truth. If we are honest, we also know we need to be reminded occasionally! Thanks for allowing me to remind myself.
