THE WORLD

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in Him. (1John 2:15 KJV)

Have you ever noticed that we as a church often make it sound like “the world” is a dirty word? We judge people who in the world when they probably are not near as bad as we were when we lived by the worlds standards. In some instances there are people in the church who live worse that those people they see in the world. To be honest, I use to refer to the world like it was the root of all evil, but that just is not the truth. The devil is the root of all evil and if we will allow the Holy Spirit to enlighten us He will save us a lot of grief and help us to see things as God intended.

First of all, let’s remember that God so love the world that He gave His only Son. God created the world and said it was good. So for us to decide that the “world” is a dirty word is just foolishness. Of course we should never choose anything in the world over the will of God, but we also cannot just turn our back on the world.

Jesus did not ask God to take us out of the world; He asked that God would protect us from the influence of it. There are a bunch of things in the world that are very good for the kingdom of God. We need to be careful that we do not just let those “awful people” in the world monopolize the good things we need. They are not awful by the way; they are lost, and waiting for us to get a clue!

If God has promised to prosper and make us successful, where are we going to do that? If are only successful in the confines of our churches, how is God glorified by that. That makes as much sense as waiting till we get to heave to really let loose and worship Him. He desires to be glorified here and now. How can we show the world His glory if we act like Pharisees toward the world and in the world?

Remember, we were lost and without God at one time too. We thought it was very pleasurable to be right out in the middle of everything that was going on. We thought people who needed God were a little off their rocker. We were not perfect and we still aren’t.

So let’s get over our judgmental ideas and allow the Lord to show us how we can be in the world and not of the world. Let’s allow God to show us how to show them how much better His system works. If Christ is in us, we are not going to be infected by the world; rather we will infect the world with His presence. We need not fear the world, unless of course we love it more than we love God. If that is the case, it does not matter if we stay away from it. If we still want it more than God, God knows our hearts. Determine right now that you can a will go into the entire world and that you will listen for God’s voice to guide you into all truth. The world needs to see this.
