THEREFORE

Therefore, since God in his mercy has given us this new way, we never give up. (2 Corinthians 4:1)

Therefore; the dictionary defines it as, because of or as a result of. Chapter three concludes by saying that Holy Spirit makes us more and more like Him as we are changed into His glorious image. So, since God has given us this new way, we have good reason to never give up.
What should we never give up? Firstly, we should never give up what God has given us. He has given us a new way.
We have new way to handle everything. He has given us a new way to overcome and to overwhelm the enemy rather than be the ones who are overwhelmed.
How often do we find ourselves neglecting the great gifts God has given us? Do we worry? Do we fear? Do we doubt? Do we forget that we have the victory in Christ Jesus? Do we allow ourselves to be fooled into thinking that these are just words and they do not apply to us? Do we give into the idea that they may work for others but they never work for us?
Unfortunately, we all have moments where all of the above apply. The question is, do we let those things stick?
God has given us a new way and like Peter recovered after denying Jesus, so can we. Often times, Paul listed the things that had come against him. He always pointed out that Jesus saw him through it all brought him out stronger on the other side. As a result, Paul learned how to be content in all circumstances.
When you are walking or running or whatever you may doing, if you begin to lose your balance, do you just go ahead a fall down? As a rule, we try to keep ourselves upright don’t we? If for some reason we cannot, we do our best to fall in a way that is least damaging don’t we? In our lives we have learned to hit and roll or something else to protect ourselves as best we can and of course some have developed more skill at this than others. The same is true spiritually, except that all can develop as far as they are willing to follow this new way in His Spirit.
When I was in college, I worked on a job where we were working at greater heights each day. I found myself dreaming of ways to try and land so as not to get hurt if I fell. It was crazy. How do you land from a hundred feet off the ground? Still, I was thinking of it.
When things trouble me in the night I try to get to praise for the fix. Last night I did not have to try, every time I woke up it seemed I was immediately thinking of new songs to sing to the Lord. At least I do not remember anything other that. I pray that is my new way always.
